UK MS Presentation on Statins. They look promising but still issues to be resolved.

Personally, I think that this is it!
No drug alone can do the job. It will have to be done in combination therapy. Just like chemotherapy. It is always a cocktail of drugs that are needed to stop a very aggressive type of cell damage. Not the same cause but some similarity in the destructive process. :)

But dont hold your breath Carole the last slide in the presentation says quite a lot :x :(
Statins may only have modest effects over extended periods which would require long-term (>5years) and large-scale trials. These would prove very expensive and therefore not attractive to the pharmaceutical industry. This is especially pertinent where statins have lost, or will soon lose, patent protection.

Actually, I just ment that this disease will need combo therapie to be effectively treated, not necessarily with statins in there...
It is too complex a disease. Carole
