Stomach muscles - MS hug?

Can the MS hug go as low as the lower stomach? I always thought not but i'm having a very weird one i'm not sure about because it kinda feels muscle related and MS hug is nerve related b/c of a spinal lesion I believe...

Just had a very big relapse a couple of weeks ago. Went numb from the ribs down, big shock, my ms symptoms have always been pretty mild (unlike the CFS ones which destroy me) so this was a bit like an onslaught.

Anyhoo, I can so/so walk again now, I have my legs back to normal from the knees down. It's just my back, stomach, hands, pelvis and fronts of thighs that are varying from mild to severe. Very numb annoying fingertips for typing!
The thing is, I have had a very odd sensation round my LOWER stomach pretty much since this started, I feel like i'm being squashed and carrying a very low slung baby! It's not painful at all (at present) but the area is half numb and very sensitive at the same time (odd, I know) there and right round my back. It's like i'm wearing a stomach cincher and am retaining a few gallons of water in my lower stomach. Udders! lol

If anyone can enlighten me on this a bit i'd be grateful, I just can't find anything anywhere that identifies with it. I'm mystified and starting to question it - so I hope someone may identify and demystify me :)

I have had the same experience with the hug.bloating, retaining water, feeling full all the time, couldn't sit, couldn't lay down, no one would answer my questions online. I didn't realize it was due to MS.
the first few times I panicked and went to my GP who did tests for kidney and liver problems, when these came back normal he ordered an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't an ovarian tumor. by the time all the tests had came back normal, the sensation was gone. my neuro says it was the hug. It stayed for 6 weeks and then left. I have had it 3 times in one year. i just started rebif so i hope to eliminate some of these episodes.
I wish I could give you tips to make it better, but I'm still looking myself.

Oh my goodness - I've never heard this statement before and had to google it. It's amazing how liberating information can be sometimes! This sounds exactly like what I know now is a symptom I've been experiencing for quite a few years. Usually only mildly but a few times to the point where I was immobile. I am so very thankful for the enlightenment. Sometimes I feel relieved when I hear of things like this because it means I'm not crazy :)

wow, somebody wasn't paying attention :S

i used to have it, and couldn't take a full deep breath to the point of feeling the 'stretch'. resolved after addressing various nutrient depletion issues. particularly magnesium. i figure it was a bad serum ca/mg ratio leading to spastic smooth muscle in the rib cage, possibly also the diaphragm to some extent.

glad it's gone!
