so guess what. i am excited! this semester has been so crap. but now the snow flies and it's time to go back to work at the ski hill. something to smile about! and we're going to mt. st. louis-moonstone for training tomorrow. PAID training. what a great job!!!

I really miss skiing, the moguls and the the sunshine....
I still ski in my dreams...

i hope your dream-skiing is beautiful. when i dream of skiing i am usually finding myself accidentally hitting jump after jump and flying so high into the air that i think i'll die when i land!! do you ever just go to the hill with friends, and hang out in sunbeams on the deck? at mont cascades or somewhere? or would that just piss you off..
on a diff topic, are you a foodie carole?

No, no, as a matter of fact, I do go to Mont-Cascades. My folks ski there and I know alot of people still. The atmosphere and the clean air are things I miss. When I ski in my dreams, I am back at Mt Ste-Anne, in the moguls and I do fine. I often roller blade in my dreams too. funny.

glad you can still enjoy the atmosphere! i NEVER enjoy things more because other people can't! but what does make me happy is my little internal monologue which says 'remember when you couldn't hold the ski poles, and had to teach only kids that weren't on poles yet?' 'remember when you couldn't even walk around the area, let alone ski, and were basically reduced to being a greeter?' maybe those days will come again but in the meantime i do have little smiles at having another chance

i just asked because you're in ottawa and i really liked this one restaurant there. over the summer i wanted to know about the good restaurants there, and from the august dinner series that my friends and i set up, i was expecting the wakefield old mill to be the best but an underdog won hands down, which was the sweetgrass on murray (caribou medallions, summer menu - they're on fall menu now). have you been to the sweetgrass?

I guess I am. I do go to restaurants a lot but never went to the "sweetgrass" on Murray st. I will make a point of trying it.
I love Domus which is also on Murray st. and of course the Bacarra at the Casino.
One thing I do like is a restaurant where I can bring my own wine. There are a few here on the Québec side but not many and not all very tasty.
Montreal is great for that.
Wakefield's mill does have a great reputation and so does "les Fougères' in Chelsay. Then there is the ST-Ö on St-Laurent..... I could go on and on. I guess I never called myself a foodie.

im in burlington/waterloo now. and work in milton. so here there everywhere! it takes me around 5 hours to get to ottawa. yea the BYOW thing, don't they have crazy corking fees though? i haven't gotten into that much yet.
we had a bad experience at the wakefield old mill, sadly. the ambience was fantastic but we slipped through the cracks service-wise. and i mean, we vanished from view. and, my bison was SO tough, i choked on it.
meanwhile, the caribou at sweetgrass was exquisite. i checked the latest review on restaurantica though, and the most recent one was less than ecstatic about the fall menu. mine's the one with the chive crepes thing.
i never heard of les fougeres, sadly! i loved the gatineau side, i lived right at the bottom of the park on a side street across from the dairy queen and that music school. i was forever up in the park, chelsea etc, after work. a beautiful place! especially compared to burlington or waterloo lol

No corking fees in the restaurants that I attend.
Yes, the area is very pretty but today we are getting one heck of a snow storm. WouFf. Don't know how going to work will be tomorrow.

Home from the ski hill because of snow?! Was it because they couldn't keep the road ploughed? I just got back from skiing. We could use some more snow here, send it my way.
