Nice snook Bubba. You weren't by chance watching a show on ESPN this morning where a guy caught a 30 lb'er by Jensen Beach (east coast of Fla.) by chance? Now THAT was a snook. My grandfather used to live in Naples and we'd go fish the brackish water in the 10,000 islands part of the everglades. Being from Ohio, it spoiled me for life. Reds, snook, black tips out by the gulf, ladyfish, sheephead, grouper, you name it. We would get tired from catching fish all day. Now that was back in the 80's (he's 99 years old now and doesn't fish), but I imagine the fishing is still good there. Those were the days. After many trips down there and catching more fish than you could imagine, I just lost interest in bank fishing, which is all I ever did up here. It's just boring when you're not catching a big 'un all day long.

I remember I was about 12 when I first caught a snook. Being used to bluegill and the occasional bass in ponds up in Ohio, I about crapped when that dude just ripped off about 100' of line in about .5 seconds. Man was that fun. I envy you guys for living where it's fishing like that

No didnt see that this morning, but guarranteed I have seen it in the past. Aint much TV fishing gets by me! If you messed yer drawers over a snook, you need to come here and catch a Tarpon.... The silver king. you better have 350 yards or more on your reel. I dont do much freshwater fishing because I live this close to saltwater... Just aint no comparisson(sp). On the east coast of Fla, they usually measure by pounds. Over here on the west coast we usually go by inches. My biggest snook and redfish to date is 40".

I've caught some big reds, but nothing like that snook I saw yesterday on TV. I have never caught a tarpon, although my uncle had one on briefly when we were down there until he threw the lure. I always wanted one of those dudes, but my Grandpa said they were in different areas then where we would focus. He said they were more out by the gulf and less in the heavy mangroves like we were always in. Don't know if that's true or not, but I will never know how we did not get lost back in those mangroves. It all looked the same to me and this was before GPS! Man was that fun. I reminsced about those days for some time yesterday after I posted that.
