good news

over the last 6 days (three evenings, three full days) i have managed to achieve my level 2 ski instructor certification!!! whew!!!

Congratulations! Was it a combo of classroom and on-mountain stuff? It sounds like your part of the world is getting more than its fair share of snow these days.

thanks VERY MUCH ally, dignanlegs, cheer!! the course conductors like to keep you sweating and wondering til the last second!!
yes dignan, a mix of inside and outside. workshops and such, watching videos of skiers and trying to really pin down the root of any problems we saw, watching vids of ourselves and doing the same thing, practicing teaching the parallel progression, and i thought the hardest was teaching the other level 2 candidates their own ski improvement.
you're not kidding about snow either! our last day of course we'd had well over a foot of excellent new snow over the previous couple days, and the sun was back out for us. fantastic!

Congratulations! As has already been said, you should take great pride in this accomplishment. I haven't been on skis in a number of years, but I spent a lot of time on the slopes in my youth, as did my wife. Not much time for skiing these days, but I wouldn't mind getting back into it eventually.

thanks you three too! to be perfectly honest, i don't have time for it either and had to extend my graduation to august!! i hope everyone can get back out there
where're the best places near to you skiers south of the border way?

i just can't stop i guess. yet! even during my dx attack i was out... once i started to get used to moving around by vibration sensing. i could only teach certain classes because they had to be good enough for the chairlift so i could sit down regularly, but they could
not be good enough for ski poles, because i couldn't hold them! one of the other candidates ratted me out too (we all work together) so our evaluators knew i had issues... made me so paranoid! lol!

OK, free lesson time...talk to me about speed control techniques in steepish, fairly tight, off-piste terrain. (seriously, I need help)

the main point i took away from this thread seems to be "suck it up and go fast" but they have some more specific tips also

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. I sometimes check out the epicski forums, but mostly when I'm dreaming about a new pair of skis.
