I hate shopping now even more..... I fell in the slush as I stepped out of the store..... I was so embarrassed...three people helped me to my car which was only 20 feet away. My arms were too full... my cane was not enough to help me. I think I will have to accept that I need a walker to go shopping now...or only go to stores that have carts... I am so mad....
at myself and at the disease....no injury sustained just a bruised ego....
Each year I dread the X'mas shopping and it is only going to get worse. I know it. It is like an evaluation of my disease. I compare from year to year... it is not good.....puts a damper on my spirit of X'mas anyway...
I am not done with the shopping and next year, I will start earlier and shop on line like many people do (even the ones with no ms). Will not make the same mistake again... I rested before and all... but the escalator was out of order... a lot of precious energy wasted just climbing and coming down the stairs. I really hate shopping....

I'm with you on that. I get all psyched to go. I have good energy by the time I get there. Then after a bit of walking the tingling in the legs starts, then the feet get really painful, then the walking like a drunk starts. And to top it off, I better not be very far from a bathroom. I hate it too. I have two new rules about shopping.

I only go to stand alone stores that have a bathroom. No more malls for this dude; period.

I shop online as much as humanly possible. Amazon.com is like a mall anyway. They have everything. That way you can purchase many things and not have to pay 10 bucks to ship each thing you buy from a specialty online store.

(OK, three rules!) I always cath right before I leave so I can get in a good hour or two before my anxiety goes up from my bladder. I know depends would help, but I just want to get in the habit of wearing those things all the time.

It sounds like you are going to be an online shopping enthusiast like myself now, and the only advice I can give you is to start with Amazon. I was simply amazed at how much stuff you can get from there.

Dear Carolew,
i understand you...I will not say to you not to worry it is not something important.(Because i hear those things every every time i feel that i can not have the control of myself for the most simple things! You see,i have no by my side my family.Anyway...) Sometimes i hate myself, too. It is not easy when you want to do simple things as walking and you can not. It ruins your brain and your inside world.I know. Do not pay attension to the people around cos they do not know about ms and also most of people are always ready to cheat you(talk bad)! So find what makes you feel safe! for example on-line shopping!
Sorry for my bad english,in greek i could express myself better! Hope you understood me! :D
Never stop loving yourself!!!
