Check out the following link for a story about a fellow MSer and her experience with the WalkAide

I continue to have a very positive experience with my WalkAide - glad that I spent the money. Hopefully, the insurance companies will decide to start some type of coverage for the device.

For those who are interested, you can go to a Hanger Prosthetic Clinic and try the WalkAide.

I have had MS for 11 years now, and I am trying to get help with the walkaide which I have tried and worked perfectly!! $4708.00 is a little much for a man with 'no money'!! Do you know of anyone to give help with the walkaide??

Thank you and God bless!!

Hi Shawn!

I called the technician from whom I purchased my WalkAide. She said they are still hopeing for the device to be covered by insurance in early 2009.

It is great to hear that you had a positive experience with the WalkAide. Would you be able to afford it by making monthly payments? I am paying for mine over a period of 18 months - interest free. The expense is high, but the benefits are so rewarding - I hope you are able to find a way to purchase it.

Good Luck to you!

Hi Shawn -

Do you have an MS Society close to where you live? Maybe you could get some financial help from them.

Sorry you are having difficulty - maybe it will be resolved in 2009 if the WalkAide gets covered by insurance.

Take Care

I was so happy to see people talking about WalkAide. I have worn it on both legs for over a year now. I love it. It is so much better than braces. It has truly changed my life. I don't have MS (at least it hasn't been diagnosis yet- but I've been warned it's a possibility) I have a spinal cord injury which resulted in severe leg weakness. I spent 2 years in a wheelchair then was fit with many different braces to help with rehabilitation. After six years of hard work I was fit with WalkAide. The first time I tried it was amazing- I walked effortlessly for the first time in years

I agree that everyone should find a hanger facility in their area and give walkaide a try. It doesn't cost anything and its a great way to see if it's something you really want. Check out Walkaide.com to get more info on walkaide and hear patient testimonials, then check out Hanger.com to find an office in your area.

If money is an issue check out care credit. Getting insurance coverage takes along time. Word is it will be done next year but I heard the same thing last year.

Good luck:)

I saw the gma clip the other day when I visited the walkaide website and finally decided to make an appt. None of the offices in socal are near me, but I'm visiting my mom in eugene, oregon this month so I made an appt for the office there.

The receptionist was SO NICE
but ... she didn't know what walkaide was.
So I'm a little nervous that I'll get there and they won't have one for me to try.

But she also didn't know what Medicare was, so I'm not that worried.

Think I should call and double check that it is indeed a hangar place?
