I don't know and I don't care. I just followed the instructions. Perhaps it is just a test to see if someone can follow directions. Just put the ones who didn't follow instructions at the bottom of the pile.

Do you have an issue telling someone your mothers maiden name ? If so, that's very suspicious. If they put it on the bottom of the pile, their problem is solved !!

It's pretty easy to conform to something as stupid as this !!!! Denying yourself treatment because of this - well that's just plain stupid.

I think that is a crazy explanation! I hardly think they only want people who follow orders.....if that were the case we would still be visiting the neurologist.
And by the way, my husband had treatment in France and was not required to give his mother's maiden name.

I am pleased you are ok Marc. I hope you see some improvements, you have really helped push further the understanding of CCSVI and have confirmed that it really exists.

Mitochondrial DNA database, perhaps? Or, less paranoid, for security reasons. IE: my bank knows my mother's maiden name. It is usually a security measure against identity theft, on the premise that it is not a widely known fact outside of one's immediate family.

Holly Barr has posted on the Dr. Mehta thread about the need for mother's maiden name and ss#. Let's see...she says it's needed at the time of scheduling for financial clearance, etc.

I called on the 1st of March, she was not able to schedule me over the phone, but did via email the next day.

I hope that everyone here who is waiting for dates is able to get in.

I started the sentence with the word perhaps meaning it's only a guess, I don't really know, here is one option. The choice is yours, give them your mothers maiden name or go to France. I opt for the less expensive of the two.

Please explain the negative effects you had by providing your mothers maiden name in the past. On second thought, don't. Just understand that actions have consequences, inaction's have consequences also.

Action: Give them your mothers maiden name.
Consequence: Get an appointment.

Action: Don't give it to them.
Consequence: No appointment.

Just sit there and ponder these possibilities for the next few months. Please step aside so the rest of us can go around you !!!

Assuming this is still the thread for Marc's procedure . . . :-)

Hey there Marc -- hope you're not having any aftereffects from the procedure. Thank you so much for taking the time to write it up so thoroughly -- it's exactly the kind of detail we want to know all about. It must feel great to know that something could be done in the future. :-)

(By the way, have you ever considered a better manual chair so you could use taxis, etc.? Another subject, I know, but for instance I have an awesome one with quick-release, power-assist wheels that fits everywhere. This was the one detail of your story that made me want to call you up on the spot and get you some better equipment! You could consider getting evaluated for one by a therapist and then looking for a good deal on ebay or something. Just a thought . . .)

The spreadsheet needs to be filled in as completely as possible. It makes sense, who would you rather schedule. Someone who filled it in completely or someone who 'Doesn't follow instructions'. Do your best to talk to her on the phone. If she 'knows' you, you might receive better priority. Now that I think about it, I talked to her on the phone before emailing.
I also talked to Holly on the phone on March 8th and filled out the entire form. Still haven't heard anything. This waiting is getting to me, especially when I hear others are getting their appointments scheduled.
