I don't have the mental capacity, ability, or eyesight to go chasing all over this forum to get these answers, so I'm posting a new topic in hopes of getting your help.
I need to know the good, the bad, and the ugly of angioplasty.
If anyone knows first hand about getting angioplasty, I'd like to know everything from the start--even a week before.
My neuroradiologist is going to start off with a double (neck) angio first and we'll see if that holds. I'll need to know what to expect as a patient and what I should do and not do at all times. I'm in pretty bad shape as most of you know. Walking is out and so is standing.
I know nothing about this procedure other than they start at the groin. From there I haven't a clue. I figured the more prepared I am; the better off I'll be. Thanks for your help. I'm going in some time for the procedure in middle April.

Please read my thread, "I have been liberated!!!!!!" as I think it will answer some of your questions.

The good news for you is that the hard part is over. You have a real date for Liberation!

I just had it done 2 weeks ago. Your job during the procedure is to just lay there and do nothing. They will start an IV with fluids in your arm. They may give you some "conscious sedation" to relax you.

They give you a few shots of lidocaine in the groin area. Then they get to work. I felt virtually nothing after that.

My right IJV was 95% stenosed, so I felt the balloon being used on that side, but it didn't hurt. I just felt some pressure.

Afterwards they will have someone put presure on the insertion site for up to 10 minutes. You will have to lay flat for about an hour.

That's it! I had NO pain or discomfort after having both IJVs ballooned. We went home that night. If I hadn't been there, I would think it had all been a dream.

They sent me home with a scrip for Plavix for 3 months.

Congrats on finding a doc to treat you. Hope all goes well!

G'day everyone. I have posted three videos today on Youtube. The first two show my explanation of the procedure and some thoughts, the third is footage of my scans and some commentary during the procedure.

This should link you through to my channel.

Thanks to all and will keep sharing info as it comes up. Kerri
