ozarkcanoer wrote:As a matter of fact, NO ONE really knows the validity of CCSVI and MS yet, one way or the other. Not Colin Rose or anybody. Dr Zamboni even claims his finidings are preliminary. I certainly don't know. Mr Rose just thinks he is superior in his disdain for those who advocate for more research for CCSVI. He sees himself as a lone holder of the truth who stands out from the smelly crazy masses. Socrates said the he (Socrates himself) was the wisest man (as indicated by the Delphic Oracle) because he knows that he DOES NOT know anything. Every question is up for grabs.

I like your approach oc! I hope that you are doing well.

He saddens me.

I have seen most of Colin Rose's comments on CCSVI and have reviewed his blog. What amazes me is the contradictory statements he makes within his own review.

On his blog, he shows a pair of legs with severe blotching and sores due to iron deposits. His arguement is that the faces of all MS patients would look the same as those legs if CCSVI were real. However, the skin is the only organ in those pictures; the only place for excess iron to go. He completely ignores known diseases such as Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation (NBIA), of which many symptoms are identical to those in MS, and whose patients don't walk around with sores all over their faces.

He claims that we would all look strangled. Yet he ignores the presence of collateral veins in CCSVI that would prevent us looking like walking purple beets with bulging eyes.

He ignores the published papers from MRI technicians that highlight the need for an increasingly heavier T2 weighting (PD<FLAIR<T2) to show increasingly hypersensitive T2 at the periphery due to the magnetic suspectibility of excess iron. Perhaps someone should remind Colin Rose that iron is a metal, and MRIs are great big magnets. Ta-da.

Fellow patients and supporters, the words of this individual only harm the uninformed. We need to take it upon ourselves to educate, communicate and support our own community so that we can all move forward towards the cure. Colin Rose is only as powerful as our ignorance allows.

That is why I wrote the following: I think we need a laugh. To be serious for a moment, don't we need to start thinking about women's rights?

Lysistrata on Parliament Hill
-------------------------------

ChorusOfOne played by ?
Lysistrata played by ?

Lysistrata: I tell you, we should just take over parliament.
ChorusOfOne: But the plan. You promised!
Lysistrata: Oh, alright. You announce me.
ChorusOfOne: I do the proclamation, you do the oath.
Lysistrata: OK. But I still say we ducktape all the buggers and stuff socks in their mouths.
ChorusOfOne: Never mind. I'm going to start. (addresses crowd:)

ChorusOfOne: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the woman we *all* know and love, please give it up for: Lysistrata!

applause...

(waits)

Somebody turn off that stupid applause sign! (waits for quiet) (crowd goes silent after sign is extinguished) I would first like to make a special request to certain of our Citizens:

(from scroll) Calling all Wives, Girlfriends, and Lovers. OF: ...Male Neurologists. Of Male Politicians, Federal and Provincial. Of Prime Ministers of Canada and the United Kingdom. And of Male MS Society Executives. Please come to the Aid of your Sisters with MS. We ask a Terrible favour of you: we need you to ...Deny Sex to your usual partners, these husbands, lovers, and so on. Without Any Exception. Unless and Until they will All Give Unequivocal Consent, that MS patients will get CCSVI Surgery. All of them. Now. Recalcitrance must be met with more. Sorry Sisters. But it's for a Good Cause. It should not take long. Thank you for this favour and your assistance. Now, please repeat after Lysistrata, the Oath of Sexual Conditions and Remedial Chastity:

(One line at a time, waiting for the Chorus to repeat each line after her:)

Lysistrata: (from scroll) (parenthetically): "The Liberation" is the name of the CCSVI operation that will relieve MS symptoms of women Near and Far.

Now you must all repeat after me.

(louder)
To neurologist or politician I will not open arms
Though fancy and denial raise his charms
In bed at home, ignoring him I'll stay
Beautiful, dressed in saffron silks all day
And if he dares to pluck with me by force
I'll give him a good reason for remorse
I'll never lie and stare up at the ceiling
(Chorus pauses before repeating)
Or ever do it doggy style or kneeling
(Chorus starts shuddering, stuttering)
If I keep faith, my sisters will get treated
And if I don't, our Cause will be Defeated
(chorus louder here:)
The *only* way he'll get what he Desires
(Chorus getting louder:)
The *only* way he'll quench his Raging Fires
(back to original level:)
Is that in spite of wealth and reputation
(crescendo, Lysistrata and Chorus, together')
He will agree with *Women's* *Liberation*!

(optional) neurologists wives, wives of politicians, Harper's wife, MS exec wives, all on separate screens
(this is the first time their monitors have worked, so they have not heard anything)
Lysistrata: Say after me: "We agree."
(women on screens) "We agree."
(tvs all go dead)

ChorusOfOne: (aside) I think we should mention the soldiers.

Lysistrata: Oh, yes. (louder:) The Oath must not be used to prevent any activity involving a member of our military forces. In fact you are all advised that unmarried members of the forces, especially those now or formerly in Afghanistan, are excellent choices, to substitute for the banished male personages. Full and thorough use should be made of this Valuable National Resource.

ChorusOfOne: There, I hope that does it. Now, did you say you knew where to find some soldiers?

Lysistrata: A whole bunch of them. But you'll have to wait till I'm finished with them. Could take a while. Why don't you just call it a night and I'll
tell them where to meet you tomorrow. OK? You'll be much more satisfied, really. They'll have had a night's sleep, and they'll be much fresher.

Lysistrata: (to the crowd) And if any of you gentlemen become desperate for a rendezvous, I do have a couple of "pointers" I'd like to lay on you. But I can't. My Oath. Sorry, guys.

.... and the fun continues
Thankfully, most Canadians (and Americans) have a better appreciation of the scientific method than the Italians, Hungarians, Poles, Bulgarians, Kuwaitis, and Indians. When was the last time a Nobel Prize in any area of science was awarded for work done in those countries?

Hmmmm, the procedure is being performed in a few places here in Australia. Is he trying to imply that medical practioners down here are ignorant or un-scientific? What country was Barry James Marshall from? The physician that proved the cause of most Peptic Ulcers are from the bacteria Helicobacter pylori and won a Nobel Prize? He was from Australia? Impossible. We are just as ignorant and un-scientific as Italians, Hungarians, Poles, Bulgarians, Kuwaitis, and Indians.

Racist prick.

Colin Rose received his MDCM from McGill University in 1968 and his PH.D. in 1976. He retired sometime during the 2005-2006 academic year.

Note: MDCM is "Medicinae Doctor et Chirurgiae Magister" or a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery.

Forget the last time such a Nobel Prize was given out, I'm looking forward to the next time. Zamboni will get a Nobel for this, I have no doubt.

Can you imagine what Mr. Rose would have thought of penicillin when it was first discovered?? A mold that kills bacteria! What nonsense! Charlatans!!

By the way- the first time penicillin was used to treat a patient, it failed. Can you imagine where we would be as a world today if someone just gave up? It was faith that got us this miracle antibiotic, and faith will open this treatment to everyone.

Me thinks his attacks against Zamboni are purely out of jealousy.

I really doubt that ... its worse ... I think he is generally sadistic by nature. He has problem with almost everything ... sort of a guy who will always see glass half empty no matter what ...

Sadistic seems an ample adjective.

I found dr. Colin Rose writing about CCSVI very interesting and educational. In that writing I found answers for some of my questions, and confirmation of some of my own thoughts and findings.

The themes about CCSVI I found interesting are:

The Zamboni Myth: Why “CCSVI” is Surreal:

Zamboni and the Occult Art of “CCSVI”:

But that is miningless for you.
You call him or Sharon SOB?! What does SOB means?!
And what Sharon have in comon with this MS forum? Does Sharon have CCSVI?

I think the "SOB" was aimed at Colin Rose and means Son of a Bitch. If you read the comments at the bottom of the article you'll find one from Colin Rose not especially sympathetic to Sharon's plight.
Colin Rose

PFO? So what?
Why would anyone even think about looking for a PFO in a obese, 77 yo junk food addict? Maybe look for one in a 30 yo with no obvious risk factors. Sharon probably had the usual thrombotic TIA and was put on Clexin (I gather it is like Plavix) and then had a hemorrhagic stroke, secondary to the antiplatelet drug. See my previous post.
