I have been offered investigation/treatment next week by Dr Kostecki and I have accepted it. I have also tried searching for references to him and I have found very little here. I don't think what I am being offered is the Euromedic package. I will be in Tychy not Katowice. I guess Dr Kostecki will be doing the doppler and I think I am going to the same clinic as the people from Euromedic for the MRV. But I am not sure who is doing the venography. Has anyone already been and can give me any more information? The last thing is I asked several times for the actual times of my appointments but he has only sent me a time for the MRV. I only have dates for the others. It is now less than a week before I go and I cannot plan my travel, hotels etc. till I know what times I have to be in Tychy, Zabrse etc. Has anyone else had this experience?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have an appointment booked with Dr. Kostecki on May 10 - 14th. It is my understanding that he is a protege of Dr. Simka. I will contact Dr. K and ask him how many procedures he has performed. It is my understanding that this a practised procedure in Poland.

I would perhaps try and contact the euromedic who are on facebook. They may be able to give you some re-assurance.

Thanks for the replies. My arrangement is directly with Dr Kosteki so I don't think talking to Euromedic would help. And I am not trying to imply any criticism of Dr Kosteki. I know enough about him to know he has been involved since the beginning and has worked with Euromedic and Simka. I am not sure if he is a protege or a co-worker. I am now wondering if I am the first to go to him directly. If anyone has already been I would be grateful to know when they were told the times of their appointments.

Didn't he send an attachment with a package deal? The one I received didn't list any times, only dates, but said I would be transferred from the hotel after breakfast on the days I'd need to be at the hospital. I turned it down as I'd already confirmed Bulgaria and booked a flight (annoyingly his email arrived half hour after!)

Did you see the other threads on here re kostecki? You may find more info /former patients there...?

I also have an appointment with Dr. Kostecki in May. I emailed him about the procedure and this is what he sent back

Phlebography is the first step of the procedure- we inject the contrast into the vein in order to see the stenosis or other disorders.
Travel agency has all details you need, I mean dates, times and so on. Of course we check azygos vein. Dr Kuczmik and me perform this procedure in the Silesia Medical University as a grant. Dr Waclaw Kuczmik is the best Polish interventional angiologist and vascular surgeon so you will be in a good hands You will not pay me nor dr Kuczmik but to Clinic. I am afraid you need cash in Polish currency.

You have to get in touch with the travel agent they have all the information. They take care of all your accomodations, transfers ect.

Thanks for the encouraging post. I know a lot of people are travelling to Poland but most are seeing Dr. Simka. It is awesome to hear of someone that went to Dr. Kostecki for the procedure. How are you doing after the procedure? Did you stay at Hotel Arena?

Thank you Lynda and Michelle. Very helpful info. I will phone the travel agent tomorrow. But I am now worrying whether my flight will be cancelled because of the Volcano. I am determined not to miss this so if it isn't sorted by Sunday I will be booking the train across Europe for Monday.

Just noticed something else. Lynda's e-mail said pay in Zlotis. Am I to take the whole amount in Zlotis?

Did you pay the whole payment in Zlotis when you were there Michelle?

Lynda, I didn't stay at Hotel Arena because of a regrettable communication problem (my fault really ), but the others in my group did and only had positive comments about it (great people, room, food, etc.). I will stay there when I go back for my 3 months check-up !
As to how I'm doing, well I'm still waiting to see any improvements but I am so happy that I have been liberated ! Hopefully, the rest will follow...
AMcG I took Zlotys with me and paid after each exam in cash and the clinic the morning of the procedure. I'm not saying that it's the best way to go though...
Hope the situation with the "volcano ash cloud" will not keep you from flying there, so much more practical that the train...but the main point is to get there, right ?!?

Sorry that you haven't experienced much improvement. What condition are you currently in. I was diagnosed in December 2005, using a walker in 2006-2008, now in a scooter fulltime. I seem to be going downhill fairly quickly so time is of the essence for me. what did you have done in your procedure? I am hoping I will be able to notice some improvement right away.

I was diagnosed in '96 and have been needing a walker for more than a year now and I totally agree that time is of the essence ! I'm trying to calm myself by thinking that it took me so long to get to where I'm now that my body might just need more time to function again... For sure, the earlier one gets treated, the better ! The good thing is that although you are not doing so well, you haven't had MS for that long, so I'm sure you will do more than fine and will feel improvements quickly !!!

I feel that i have had ms for quite some time. I was in a motorcycle accident in 1984 and have had tingling in my feet for about 15 years and feel i was misdiagnosed until major things started happening in 2005. I am just trying to be positive and pray that ccsvi is the answer. I agree, it took a long time for our bodies to get into this position so i am counting on time and our bodies healing themselves after being liberated.

And a pleasure talking to you too Lynda I really think CCSVI could be the cause of all this, IMHO taking care of it will stop progression ! Now that's someting and then we need to find all possible ways to repair the damage... Please keep me posted on how everything goes for you in Poland, but I'm sure it will go great (say hi to Dr. Kostecki for me ) !
