A Phone for Poland for Canadians

Is there anyone going to Poland sometime in the near future who would like a cell phone to take with them? Using your Canadian cell phone is usually expensive and/or difficult because a) most are not GSM and b) they are usually locked to your current phone company so just buying a Polish SIM card won't do.

You can unlock an appropriate kind of phone (I can point you to a website that will do it for you), but here is another option: My European phone has a pre-paid Polish SIM card with about 50 zloty worth of talk time left, which will be good until the third week in September. I'd like it if someone could use it in Poland, top up the prepaid talk time a little, then bring it back with some talk time left, which I could use when I go back for my checkup in October. Another advantage of this is that you could give your family and friends your phone number before you go.

To eliminate the hassle of passing things back and forth through customs, it would work best to do this with a fellow Canadian. Please e-mail me if you're interested.

Hi Ted,

I would love to take you up on that offer. We're scheduled for June 15, 16. We are in Toronto.

By the way, was it Marta Cyba that you dealt with at Euromedic.

Thanks.....Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Send me an e-mail (click on the e-mail icon below my post) and we can make arrangements.

I dealt with both Martas... mostly Marta Cyba before and Marta Cichy during and after the trip.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for your generous offer. If Michelle doesn't go for it, I will (you have my e-mail).

Did you buy that phone in Poland? I have read some that say one can buy a pre-paid phone in Poland.

Did you find a phone necessary for communicating with Euromedic while there?

Sorry for all the questions.

Yes, although I didn't do it, I'm sure you can buy a pre-paid phone in Poland. You may have to go to a larger store than just a kiosk (where you would usually go if you wanted to just buy SIM-cards and recharges).

In answer to your other question, it wasn't necessary but rather convenient to give them a Polish phone number for me that they could use. They used it once to set up a time to get picked up from my hotel in Kakow (we had a few days of vacation there before the procedure) and again another time when they wanted to let me know about a change in time for my MRV.

Merida,
My husband and I are going to be there during the same time. Maybe we can share? Just kidding... We are leaving on the 12th from Toronto.
Cheers Diana
