Hi there,

Just wondering.....was anyone told to take any kind of blood thinner (other than the 7 days of injections) after angioplasty?

IF not, is anyone taking aspirin to keep the blood a bit thinner to stop the veins closing up again?

There was no real advice given after my guy had his procedure done, I thought for sure he would need to follow up with at least aspirin.

did anyone else come across the same thing?

thanks a lot.

Liberation treatment done May 27 in Poland.

Annie

I thought everyone from Poland was on aspririn and plavix (clopidogrel) for a month to six weeks after the procedure then aspirin for life. I have done six weeks myself but I still have a sore neck so I am going to carry on with the clopidogrel until my neck feels normal. If I was you I would go to your GP strait away and get his advice.

Having said all that I believe there are Doctors who do not believe in using anti-coagulants at all.

I sent a message to Marta to ask Dr. Simka about this.

I appreciate your help.

Hi Annie, Good you asked Marta anyway.

But I was in procedure at Katowice the day before and we were told and prescribed (if no stent) then indeed only the 7 days Fraxodi (Nadroparinum calcicum) injections.
However, advice from different doctors (eg Kosteki) might differ. There is not really consensus as I understand on precisely what is best to do...some recommend no blood thinners at all and some longer treatments with other meds... if a stent then in Katowice they recommended Aspirin for life and a set of other medications. hope this helps a bit + lets see what Marta answers you also

Hi....I am not taking any blood thinners. My specialist didnt suggest any anti-coagluants. I do have some pain where the ballooning was done, but otherwise no adverse effects
