I haven't heard the mp3 yet but there were some patients that didn't have a clue about anything. There still are so...
I prefer to focus on the great help he has been offering so far and hope he will be of much greater in the future. If so, he can say whatever he wants about me

gotta say - I have learnt a lot from Dr S. The first vascular "specialist" I spoke to about the treatment of CCSVI scared the heck out of me. Told me I risked "bleeding on the brain" if I sought treatment...told me a lot could go wrong with the procedure I was enquiring about. I was very confused. Only when I sought a second opinion, from an IR for whom venoplasty is second nature, was I put right on the actual minimal risks involved in balloon angioplasty. His words echoed those of Dr S.

As far as I'm concerned, Dr S rocks!

I have been following CCSVI here on tims since the beginning. However, I still posted an MRV on his thread with a question regarding to vessels that I later found out were two arteries. I haven't heard the MP3 yet. So don't take it personally, it was possibly directed at me

BELIEVE ME....I appreciate your opinion of which you are entitled; However, I have had the opportunity to be treated by Dr Sclafani. Prior to treating arteries and veins(38 years ) he and his partner were like "Batman and Robin" in the ER, and regularly brought people back from the dead. He is highly respected at the Hospital, highly regarded, really a regular guy to sit and talk to. Kings County is in Brooklyn for crying out loud. Not the neighborhood your kids are playing in the streets. He has to have tough skin for what he does. He was getting ready to hang up the instruments when he found out about this theory of CCSVI. It is like a breath of fresh air for him and he is genuinely intent on learning as much as he can to further this for us sufferers. (I.E. Italy trip, IRB application, etc) His bedside manner is overwhelmingly that of comfort. When you are on the table you can feel the confidence he exudes. Hate to tell you but the truth of the matter is there is a lot of people that talk out of their ass on this forum without factual substance. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field. You can't take that away from him. Believe me he doesn't need me to defend him because I really don't know shit about shinola, but if you get the chance to get treated, pray he is the one doing it this I know....

That was the entire presentation. Unless, of course, you happen to speak Italian. See the links below for the full talk. Dr. Sclafani would speak for about 15 seconds and then he was followed by the translator speaking in Italian for about 15 seconds. This went on for about 20 minutes. No offense was meant to our Italian brothers and sisters in this battle, but I took the Italian translation out and spliced the parts back together to make his talk more concise.

Dr. Sclafani has called his time spent contributing to this forum to be a labor of love. He often squeezes it in after midnight and on the weekends. He posted here at 5 a.m. from Italy that night he was preparing his speech. Sure, he may have overgeneralized our not-quite-sweeping lack of knowledge prior to his arrival here, and he used the word 'desperate' which I think has been used in demeaning ways at times, but the bigger point was that we as a population are intelligent, driven, involved with the research, and have jobs such as CEO and programmer and the like and are eager to help him in any way possible. It was humanizing to have our population presented that way, it was good.

But I think the specific complaint was one of personality, not of creds. My opinion is that someone could have the personaility of a rock, if they're contributing to CCSVI research, then they are fighting the good fight and deserve our support.

Why...don't be shy--how do you really feel?
I think in order to be an innovator, there is a special type of personality involved...he can call we laypeople/patients/care takers anything he wants...as long as he tests and treats CCSVI. Remember, he was speaking to a room full of doctors.

THANKS to NHE!!! for editing and posting. This is an incredibly valuable lecture to share with other vascular doctors. Adding it to my Dr. Dake and Dr. Zamboni collection.
