Stent in sigmoid sinus?

Hello!

I was told that (based on the MRV of my head) my right sigmoid sinus is almost completely occluded - to the point where all of the blood is draining from my left side.

My IR said he can fix it but that it will need to be stented.

Has anyone else had this done? Ballooned or stented?

Thanks for the input!

Hi Suzq77. You might want to see Dr. Sclfani's answers (p. 173) to Nunzio and me (Blaze) about sigmoid sinus issues.

These may be different issues than yours, but it still would be worth a look. In his reply to Nunzio, Dr. Sclafani suggested his would best be addressed by a interventional neuroradiolgist, rather than by IR, VS or cardiologist.

I don't personally have any medical insight and am still struggling to understand the significance of my own findings. Perhaps Dr. Sclafani could give you some answers or suggestions.

Please keep us informed. Good Luck.

Thanks, Blaze.
:D

I posted a reply to that thread, so let's see what he has to say!

My IR is going to the seminar next Monday and he's going to try to present my case - once he gets back we'll schedule another venogram/plasty.

I'm a little nervous because it's so high up - he's said it's just inside my skull above the ijv and I'm also nervous because he said he'd have to stent.

I was ballooned in 3 places (at the base of each jug and in my upper left ijv) on 6/18. Spasticity has all but disappeared and my bladder is better, but I think if this 4th area is opened up it will mean more improvment...

So I guess we'll see what happens!
