CCSVI & The Spinal Cord

Dear Dr. Sclafani,

I am sorry if this question has been asked elsewhere, but looking through all of the threads is hard for me.

I am wondering how CCSVI affects the spinal cord? Would the azagos vein be the reason with refulx and leaving iron deposits in the spinal cord.

I ask because all of my relapses have been due to spinal lesions. I understand how the refulx in the brain works, but have not seen anything really addressing the spinal or cervical cord.

Even in all the drug studies and trials they only look at the brain, which I don't understand. The spinal cord does a lot of damage in MS, yet I don't read or hear much about that.

Thank you for all you are doing to help get proper information out there,

Sincerely,
Andrea

Andrea,

You might want to re-post to Dr. Sclafani's thread, because I believe he only answers the questions posted there.

I thought I did post it there! It only gave me the option of post new topic or reply, what did I do wrong?

Thanks!

I believe the current thinking is spinal lesions can be caused by two things:

1. Blockages in the azygous vein.
2. Collateral veins.

I'm sure other people know more about this than I do though.

I honestly don't know. The forum has been behaving strangely for me lately too - I think I am posting in one discussion, then suddenly my post appearing in another :?

While you're viewing the thread (in this case the Dr. Sclafani thread), hit the postreply button. This will leave your post in that thread.

You need to post reply. If you choose new topic, it will ask you for a new heading and it will be a new thread.

BTW I think it is mainly the azygos that drains the spinal cord. That is my understanding of it anyway, but I am no expert on this.
