Neck massage is a possible cause of IJV thrombosis.

Crossing the street is a possible cause of bleeding and death.

Without pointing to studies, i.e. multicenter, randomized, double blind, vanila flavored studies, your assertion is baseless.

I think that there is a broad consensus on this in medicine, no matter how rare it is.

My friend, the studies you linked describe ONLY ONE case each one for a total of two.

Causality is far, far from proven.

Up to a point those studies are just sophisticated anecdotal evidences.

Be a good skeptic.

Still doing neck massage on a daily basis, first thing in the morning. I've also started taking Niacin first thing and then doing the massage when I get 'the flush'. Sensations in my legs while massaging aren't as intense as when I first started, but they still happen, more so with the Niacin.

Re, the Shiatsu thrombosis danger. I tend to agree with Fernando. If there's only one or two people getting thrombosis from what is a fairly intense neck massage, I'll take the gamble that me gently massaging my neck will not kill me. I did ask Dr Sclafani a while back about doing this and he said it was fine. I'll try and paste his reply.

I didn't say the links I posted were hard scientific evidence that neck massage can cause IJV thrombosis, just that there seems to be a consensus in the medical community that it can.

I have done this with my g/f and it seems to work. She has been recently relapsing and feels numb from the waist down. I saw her last Friday for a date and I massaged her neck for 10 minutes. The next day the feeling is restored down to her knee and she has some feeling in her feet (not all though). I haven't seen her since to do some more massage since we live 2 hours away. She can't do it as effectively either it seems since her hands aren't that strong and mechanically it isn't as easy, obviously. I use a rotational movement but emphasize the downward motion.

The interesting thing is when she has gotten overheated during the summer I would do the same thing and it made her feel better! This seems to me that it gives more credence to CCSVI and the sad thing is that she was on Tysabri, had a bad reaction and is now on Copaxone. But isn't even considering CCSVI because she is afraid of angioplasty surgery. Although the PML and now Leukemia risk is acceptable??? :?: But it's her body and I don't say a word, even when she asks me what I would do if I were in her shoes.

I find this is some good information. I have not had CCSVI done yet either even though I have had MS for 38 years. I can walk with a cane but need an arm and or wheel chair most of the time. I will post all of this info on my website after I have Intererstim surgery for my bladder tomorrow so it will probably be a week or so.?? I feel we all need to help each other out as much as possible. I will post it here http://www.msrebel.com. I also received some awesome information from an American living in Paris.. she has great info but has chosen like myself to not have the CCSVI because of it's record of having to be done over and over again. This is her site http://www.mscureenigmas.net/my-own-hea ... r-one.html I found some good pics of the neck veins I will try to show them here, if that does not work I will post them on my site my site today while I am thinking about it and not in pain from the surgery, this info is just too important! Yahoo! I just figured out how to post the vein pics!!
