changing stenosis...??

A long while back I read here about a case where a PWMS had his veins checked. He used all the right protocols and went to all the right people to have it done, so there could be little doubt about the results. They found significant stenosis and scheduled his liberation.

Then, on the day he was to have it done, they checked his veins one more time and the stenosis was GONE! Probably not a coincidence, his MS symptoms were not as bad either.

This case is significant in that is shows that stenosis can spontaneously correct itself....if we (meaning the drs and patient working together) can figure out how/why that happened, it may give us yet another way to treat MS without drugs OR surgery...

Does anyone remember that case and know what happened afterward?
That thread should probably be a sticky....maybe....(I hate to even suggest that cause we have so many stickies already...)

No more stickies! I want us to clean up the stickies and condense some of them into a F.A.Q. that can be kept current.

I remember the case you're talking about but I don't remember if there were any updates or who it was. I think though that it is possible that the stenosis that showed up on the MRV or doppler testing was not an authentic stenosis. Another possibility is that it was one of the web or valve types of stenosis that was lifted out of the way when the catheter venogram was done and therefore the ccsvi was missed and went untreated. But I too would be interested in that update....

Hi Codefellow -
I remember the thread you've mentioned; since I read slowly, I copy posts for later perusal. Here's some of it:

PostPosted: Sat Feb 27, 2010 10:23 am Post subject: My strange unexplainable liberation procedure
Yesterday I went to have balloon angioplasty done. If you've followed my other thread you know my story of going to Stanford (having surgery canceled), getting tested, and coming home to find someone to do the procedure. Dr. X at home (interventional radiologist) went in and discovered both my lower jugular veins are now completely open. The scan in Dec. showed them almost 90% blocked. There was a large collateral vein system that compensated for the occluded jugulars which was definite evidence of obstruction. Both Dr. X, the Stanford doc and one other radiologist said no doubt it was there and I had severe blockage. But what happened to the blockages yesterday???

I don't know of any updates on his situation. Hope this helps.

Thats a very interested findings:
Now we have MRV or doppler authentic and unauthentic stenosis! 8O
