I am planning on getting the angioplasty in New York via Dr. Siskin's Clinic. Now I can only afford to do it via the clinic not hospital. I a am in a wheelchair 24-7. What is the best hotel, closest to his clinic? (711 troy-schenectady rd latham new york-I have that right?) How far is it from the airport??

I used mapquest and the Quality Inn & Suites Albany Airport (611 Troy-Schenectady Rd) looks like it's only a block away from the clinic. Give them a try.

There's also the Hampton Inn on Wolfe Road, and the cheap alternative, the Super-8, but I've been told Do Not Stay There because of bugs and other vermin.

By law, all hotels/ public places must be accessible.

The nicest hotel in Latham is The Century House...Some hotel/motels don't have an elevator, and rooms are on second floor.
www.thecenturyhouse.com
It's a Clarion Hotel...is rated high..handicap access..rooms great for resting after...quiet...They have higher rates, but worth it..AAA Discount..
Always check reviews on sites...some hotels are dirty, infested, etc.
It's a few minutes from Clinic in Latham.

i stayed at the hilton listed on sisken's papers sent to us. it hooks right onto the hosp. it was so convenient-clean-elevators -handicapped access-good food and if you happen to not stay the days you booked you are not charged. it is pricey but was worth it to be that close because of the shape i'm in. i'm not rich for sure and they take visa.

I am wheelchair bound so I need a lift to get in and out of things.......
Do you know if the hotel and\or the hospital rents hoyer lifts?

Do you know if a airport shuttle(s) have a wheelchair lift?

Yes, I'm in the same boat but bc I'm Canadian I have to pay out of pocket so have to use the clinic, but the Hilton sounds like a good place to stay even though it's a ways from clinic- so do they havve anything to help those wheelchair bound, or any other place?

Does anyone know about an airport shuttle service that is capable of handling a wheelchair?

It would be slick to hitch a ride from the airport to the hotel that is adjacent to the hospital!

I am on Medicare with a Kaiser Medicare Advantage plan. Anyone know if this is accepted in Albany?

when i asked about the possibilty of getting a hospital bed in room there was no way at that time. i can still transfer but i did suggest to the girl booking and anywhere else i thought they might listen that it certainly would be beneficial for patients and hotel to accomidate this. and with the hosp. right there. maybe when you call them ask. maybe if enough people request this it will help. we will still have follow ups etc.

Yahoooooo!
I just received a call from CC Phy. in Albany. October 18
If my insurance will pay it will be in the hospital.......self-pay at the clinic.

Anyone know who I could call about a pick up at the airport(I need a bus/van with a chair lift.)

I stayed at the Hilton (attached to the clinic). Barbara (I think that was her name) will help you with transportation/hotel accommodations - I rec'd a packet from Dr Siskin's staff with info. The Hilton also has a shuttle van but I don't know if it had a lift. They will also run you back & forth to the airport but you have to schedule this 24 hrs in advance. Like someone mentioned, it's pricey but I opted for the convenience.
