Upper cervical spine chiropractic adjustments

I d like to share something very weird with you all.
Lately a chiropractor who had read my blog suggested that i should check my upper cervical spinal cord based on my symptoms and diagnosis which is kind of atypical MS. Having MS lesions only in my cervical spine was suspicious enough for me right from the start but i couldn't imagine what was going to happen.

Please read and also check the latest posts in my blog, especially if your MS doesn't really look like MS.

So, i had the "liberation" procedure back in May with some benefits. My brain issues subsided considerably but unfortunately not to the point to feel "liberated".
Nevertheless, the relation between blood flow and symptoms was obvious.

Given the fact that weakness deteriorated in my legs i decided to look further for any other treatment possibilities. Out of pure luck and the good heart of Dr Flanagan it turned out that there is a serious misalignment in my C2 EXACTLY where one of 2 lesions is. Also, there is damage lower down the cervical spine due to the fact that i was living with a twisted neck for the past 10 years since i had that motocycle accident.

There is no way in hell traditional docs will help me with this one but luckily (again with the courtesy of dr Flanagan) i found the only chiropractor in Greece to help me.

Please, take a look at my blog, there is a link for Dr Flanagan's blog there. He is convinced that apart from my jugs and azy there should be pressure also on my vertebral plexous, causing ccsvi. Without a question, that misalignment (which gives me great pain every now and then) is pressing the brainstem so i guess i suffer from a chiari type syndrom too.

Living for at least 10 years with blocked veins and twisted neck gives me little room for doubts as far as what caused my immune system to go nuts.

And i am telling you, that vertebrae is way out of position. The special xray left me with an open mouth.

I dont believe that MS is triggered by luck. I believe there s a cause which may differ from person to person.

Please, explore EVERY possibility. CCSVI is the best place to start but whatever you do, do not believe doctors. The orthopedist i saw just before my visit to the chiro only advised me to be careful with how i sit in front of the pc.
Next day, an x ray revealed the ugly truth. And finally, i know why my neck is feeling out of place more and more as days go by...

Very interesting; thank you.

My last MRI's report state:

5. Atrophic cord shown with abnormal SI on T2WI at C4 to C7
6. Degenerative disc shown in the levels of whole C Spine with probably OPLL. The study wasn't for spine so the detail is not enough.

(*) I also got few mishaps in my youth as I raced motorcycles; and it often put you on your a** :P

let us know how it goes, Costume ...

MS has always been viewed (and its different classes classified merely) based on the symptoms. No wonder that body has finite symptoms but lot more reasons issues causing those symptoms. Its like trying to root cause an infection based on the body temperature. It was never going to stand the test of time ...

BTW, there was another patient here who was diagnosed with MS but his issues started after surgery ...

My darling man sustained a broken neck when he was around 27. Thirty years later he was diagnosed with PPMS. He remembers his first symptoms way back then, plus, he's had several neck surgeries to fuse the vertebrae. After the last surgery, in 2005, his right forearm went numb. He has two brain lesions.

Tomorrow he'll have the CCSVI procedure. It's going to be very interesting to see what they discover. I'm praying he has CCSVI because it may be a big answer for him.

This is definately a turf war between neuros, IR's and chiros!

The Brains, Veins and the Pains.

I keep them all separated and don't discuss what each one is saying because they all think completely different!

Now that I have been Lib'd, I am not letting my chiro touch my neck for at least 3 months. I am back to baseline now and hope to see further improvements! Still doing my back...

Oh, I also had bone spurs (small) on my spine which is where most of my lesions are. I have been very bad about my posture all of my life which has probably contributed to my MS but I am working on it. The chiro has helped with that!

Please, explore EVERY possibility.
AMEN, to that.

One of the doctors who diagnosed me with CCSVI, found that my left leg is 10 mm ( less than half an inch) shorter than the right so my whole spine has been twisted for years. I am wearing right now a supplemental heel on my left foot. We will see what happens.

Congratulations.

And unfortunately, a turf war is the LAST thing we need. It's quite clear that such a multi-faceted disease as MS requires a multi-faceted approach. IOW, those guys should be COOPERATING, not competing, to help us.

Having MS is bad enough. Now we have to work like crazy, sign petitions, organize lawsuits, boycott fund-raisers, bombard the media, just to get the doctors to help us? What a screwed up medical system!

I think it was shye who talks a lot about the atlas adjustment on here. We've seen the link to the uppercervical guy as well. My husband has seen a chiro several times now, and this evening he saw an osteotherapist ...just to see what it would be like...well the osteo really gave him a workout, which he needed...the chiro was very gentle...so far no improvement in walking though. He will continue to see them both occasionally I think, if we have the money to spare, because they are therapeutic.
I would like to have him get the atlas adjustment or just some specialist upper cerival work, but there are no specialists for that in France.
will take a look on your blog.

Costumnastional,
I havn't checked your blog yet, but what kind of adjustments did the chiro do?
I have posted several times here (don't have the time this minute to track down the threads) on the extraordinary benefit I rec'd from adjustment to Atlas and C1--I also had been in a number of serious accidents wtih head and neck injuries, and lived for years with the pain etc. New life since Atlas corrected!

Amen!

Haven't started treatment yet. Dr Koontz is an upper cervical spine specialist. Currently he is consulting with Dr Conicelo, a chiro in Italy who is doing research with MS patients. He sent my xrays to him in order to talk about what type of adjustment we should follow.

There is not a single doubt in my mind that this is what ruined my life. Not even one. The question is if it can be fixed so that bone wont put pressure on my brain stem any more. Dr Koontz told me that this misalignment is the second worse of this type he has ever seen. My lower cervical spine is also damaged due to the misalignment in C2.

Let's not forget i also had serious vein issues also. Both of these conditions should be more than enough to make my body react SOMEHOW.

If there s such a thing like MS genetic predisposition i obviously had it anyway.

I always felt my neck as the core of my problems for some mysterious reason.
I cant imagine what CRABS could do TO OPEN MY VEINS AND STRAIGHTEN MY DAMN BONES.

It was a 3 x rays set for which Dr Koontz had to place me accordingly to do it.
One was with the mouth wide open looking the ceiling.
Notice that MRIs could not see the problem on C2. Only some of the problems lower and all radiologists commented that there is straightening of the spine. Also a disc between c5-c6 is pressing the cord's external sack where vertebral veins exist.
No need to mention that for neuros all these just didn't matter enough for me to have x rays to further investigate the spine. Demyelination is only there. So what? Betaferon is the answer for every poor soul with that kind of problems.
It s mind blowing... just like the fact that even though i was hospitalized back in 2000 cause i didn't even remember my name due to the accident, they didn't run ANY kind of tests.

Dr Koontz told me that in Italy there is a special x ray machine which locks the body in a special way for chiros to see what they want but unfortunately Rome is not exactly in my neighborhood.

Never mind my blog. Here s the link for Dr Flanagan's blog:

there is a part of our discussion there.

We mostly talk in pms now

Costume,

I have been trying to catch hold of a chiro if that can give me some relief.
Can you send me (PM or reply here) how to go about searching chiros?
Every time I try to search, I end up with acupuncturist or related fields ...

Sorry SB, i found Dr Koontz out of pure luck. I was fortunate that Dr Flanagan was kind enough to help me. I strongly believe that he will help you also. I mean, he did found the only chiro in Greece for me so...
Contact him openly in his blog.
It's time for the world to see that MS patients seek other treatment options and they are determined not to let "specialists" ruin their lives.
