The paper studies the role of IJV valve incompetence in TGA.
I think one of the Dr is the one who came out with -ve study of CCSVI.

Whether he is trying to disprove venous connection to TGA or he is trying to do an open minded study is not clear to me ...

Interestingly, some other studies show more % than what Dr Doepp found:

It sounds to me like a gradual grudging acceptance of the reality that cerebral blood flow, and including venous flow, can have a major effect on neurological symptoms and status.

Also sounds a bit like he's trying to do a reverse Zamboni (maneuver made famous in the 1984 Olympic games - or was it 1948?).

This is another interesting article. What is also interesting is that this article says that valve incompetency can be induced?

Its also interesting to note that even with similar issues, some end up with MS and some with TGA.

Of this group, more than half (52%) stated that they had sustained an activity that could be associated with a Valsalva maneuver, including sexual intercourse

Lot of questions unanswered but I hope Dr. Z's work will open flood gates in new research direction ...

I haven't had time to read the article, but I also find it interesting; in the legs, in chronic venous insufficiency, valve blow-out occurs from the force of the backed-up blood.
