You can't fix stupid

On Wednesday, the one week anniversary of my procedure, I went in the local convenience store to make a deposit into my retirement program, ie, buy a lottery ticket. I saw a box of Marlboros staring at me looking so lonely I just had to take them home.

On Thursday I was feeling bad and by Friday I was sure I had re-stenosed, walking was awful, fatigue debilitating. Finished the pack off Friday morning.

Saturday morning everything is back. Walking smooth, fatigue gone.

No offense but.....smoking is stupid. My father died of lung cancer almost 30 years after he stopped smoking.

Please don't smoke again. Give your body a chance to heal. Be good to yourself, Captain.

Sooner or later you'd think I'd get it. My dad is currently dying of lung cancer and he never smoked. I need a brain-o-plasty to unclog intelligent thoughts and action. Somebody get on this. I'm afraid I'm too stupid and as we all know:

You can't fix stupid!

Yes, smoking is stupid, but don't be too hard on yourself. Addiction is very powerful and can overwhelm even the smartest people. Addiction counseling may be more effective in this case than a brain-o-plasty. :)

Capt, if you find you just can't stop smoking, and really want to, you might try using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to help you. Info at www.emofree.com. Some health professionals utilize this technique, and that might be a good way to start if you can afford it, but if you're sufficiently motivated, you can learn the technique and do it yourself!

Best of luck to you.

PS My addiction is coffee ice cream. Put it in front of me, and I'm like you with the Marlboros, though I'm supposed to be limiting or avoiding dairy, saturated fats, and sugar! Triple whammy - yikes....

Guess I should be trying the EFT myself...
