Here is a link to a CTV story that Alberta has announced they will help treat complications for Albertans arising from CCSVI treatment outside of Canada.

So, the original CTV story on Sunday and yesterday's CBC story had some effect. Alberta's Health Minister is still calling liberation treatment "experimental," but it's a step in the right direction. Thanks also to the Albertans with MS who demonstrated at the Legislature today.

Quebec College of Physicians and Surgeons made a similar announcement last week. Hopefully, other provinces and territories will soon follow.

Fantastic news, Blaze. It would have been best if this had been the situation all along.

I'm in Manitoba and am going to Albany sometime in the spring...If I develop complications afterward, can I gett a referral to see a specialist in Alberta? Or bc it's deamed an experiamental treatment, will I not be allowed to see a doc in Alberta?

Thornyrose: The spring is a long time away in terms of politics. BC and Alberta have changed their tune on a dime I would not worry about Manitoba too much yet.

I hope (for all of you up north) ... that they then start to treat the narrowings, not just the complications after getting the narrowings corrected the first time ...

This is so ridiculous. Oh we can treat you if you have complication. But we cannot treat you because MS is ruining your life. Its not as important. Such Bullshit and ass backwards. Get a grip world.

So are they giving the Liberation Treatment (tm) to anyone that it didn't work for? Or are they just doing open neck surgery and the like for people with really big complications? Is a relapse a complication of the procedure?

good point. I have had 3 since my procedure. Is that a complication or do I have to wait until a stent is in my heart?

My understanding is they will only treat complications. The fight continues to have the liberation treatment available in Canada.

hello, i was at the rally, he was good in front of us 50-60 people telling us what we wanted to hear, that we are entitled to follow up care even if we went out of country for a procedure.
The next day in front of the house he back tracked on every thing he has said to us face to face.
People talk about snake oil he produces a tone of it.
Gord is no further ahead to get help to remove these blood clots then he was before we went to the rally.
Warfarin dose not dissolve blood clots nor does plavix they thin your blood.
yet there in Canada they have ways to dissolve them, but not if you have MS.
