How often does this happen?
I had a relapse 1 month ago, and last week I had a preliminary check up. The local doctor saw a narrowing down to 1 mm of the right jug. It was 1 mm at the beginning (.2 at ear height), and a stent was put 6cmx8mm. On the first checkup three months later, it was 4 mm. Now 1mm again. I really don't know if stents can shrink, but this whole day I have had the sensation that my stent moves. It kind of itches at the wrong place, 3-4 cm southern than it is supposed to be. Are my fears rational? How often does this happen? Anyone?
I am going back to Bulgaria on Thursday for a checkup. Ufffff, I hope I won't have to medicate myself to sleep.

A stent can get in-stent restenosis, which effectively shrinks the size of the blood vessel, but the physical stent remains the same size (it's just grown over with the vein lining regrowth.)

Once it's been this long, no, the stent is incorporated into the vein wall and can't move. Did you have the sensation that it had moved back in the first month or two?

I didn't have the experience that it moved the first months, but now I seem to be regressing pretty fast, and one of the symptoms is pins and needles all over my body. This might be one reason why I feel this. Another thing that I feel is the inappropriate movements of the muscles surrounding the right jug in the neck. And the pain. I used to experience pain in one position, now in another.
Actually, I think that I am confused. A lot. And maybe mostly scared. With 1000 scenarios in my head. I think that I had a rough year concerning my CCSVI procedure and its effects. First two failure procedures, than the third one, from which I saw the effects 2 months later. Then relapse...
I think that I can't keep on switching my disposition from 'sick without cure' to 'sick with cure' back and forth all the time. It drains my strength.

you just needed to get an xray of the neck to see if the stent has migrated. if i were a betting man, which i am not, i would bet that this is not migrating

Nasti, were they worried with it being down to 1 mm, that it might close entirely? Are you going just for a check-up or would there be a procedure done if the doctor thought it was warranted?

It's good to know an xray can be a simple way to check. When I first came here, it was not long after radeck's experience, so stent migration was a frequent topic.

Nasti, it's totally understandable that you're feeling scared, wrung out and drained. We all would for sure! When things keep you worried and stressed it's just so draining physically and emotionally, and hard to keep the annoying distaterising centre of your brain calm (or maybe is just me! lol)

As someone who's had many a broken rib through the years, and a couple stents, I can attest that the body is very adept at radiating pain to locations not necessarily localized to the origin of said pain. Anyone with sciatica can also tell you that lower back pain can be felt as far south as the ankles. Sometimes nerves do weird stuff, my stent area and locations around it made funny little pinprick type sensations for quite awhile but not any more.
