Here is a very interesting quote from Dr. Embry's Letter to Dr. Freedman.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To emphasize this critical point I have to quote Dr George Ebers, one of the premier MS researchers in the world on this. Dr Ebers states “Clinical trials of multiple sclerosis have been uniform in utilising invalidated outcome measures. This has occurred to a degree to which it is difficult to find parallels in medicine in general. It is quite clear from natural history studies that relapses have very little if anything to do with long term outcome. Similarly, MRI measures have been thoroughly evaluated within large datasets and found to be similarly non-predictive for meaningful outcomes.” These are conclusions from hard science and have to be respected and used when it comes to actions regarding the CRAB drugs.

I assume you have read the key papers which demonstrate that relapse rate and MS lesion formation cannot be used to determine if a given drug is of value for slowing MS. I trust you will agree that currently we have no good scientific evidence that the CRAB drugs slow MS progression. In fact, we now have a three long term studies which indicate that the drugs do not slow MS progression by showing that those on the drugs reached the same EDSS end points in the same time as those not on the drugs (Boggild et al, 2009; Veugelers et al, 2009; Ebers et al, 2010).

I am stunned by the lack of comments in response to Dr Embrey's letter, thought sure it would have attracted a lot of skepticism - can only therefore think that the latter is well written and factual

Thank's Dr Embrey.

What a very well constructed presentation. Lucid and factual.

"We need a nation where the smartest people -- the professionals, the pharmacists, the doctors, the researchers, and so on -- actually engage in things that help people, not things that hurt people."

Not-CCSVI but I hope Dr. Embry/Dr. Freedman can at least agree on the above sentiment and move on for the benefit of the healthcare system.

Freedman is the worst of the worst. He has ( unfortunately ) a lot of clout with his advice he gives. He is obviously SUPER biased as everything I have read about what he says is so one-sided and totally close-minded. He will most likely continue to taint any canadian based research that he can get his mouth on. He needs to be double blinded himself .

Where is the empirical data that shows grape seed extract has any effect at all on MS?? 90 % of people treated have "undoubted" CCSVI? Please show me the empirical data you found that support these statements Dr. Embry.Furthermore I highly doubt any drug company could give two cents about CCSVI at this point. Everyone loves a David(the underdog CCSVI promoters) against Goliath(the big nasty drug companies) but it should not be used to stir up people's emotions. The good thing is if 12,000 people have been treated, as you so empirically stated, we should be getting tons of empirical data from the researchers and doctors who have "liberated" people from MS.

scorpion,

I'm not familiar with Dr Embry's suggested diet so I cannot comment on any recommendations he might have made with regards grape seeds extract.

I do follow Dr Sears anti-inflammatory diet and adapt it to eat the superfoods that Dr Terry Wahls suggests. I find both diets quite useful and both recommend intake of antioxidants and resveratrol which can be found in grapes.

Dr Wahls is doing a follow-up study on the impact of her diet on MS, you might be interested in checking details in her website:

I'm not too keen on taking supplements, I prefer to eat fresh products and grapes are certainly included in my diet. However, I do take fish oils as recommended by both Dr Sears and Dr Wahls.

IMHO, there is no enough research on the effect of certain recommended supplements on our health, and let alone for some specific diseases. So at the end of the day it is a personal decision whether one listens to the suggestion of a doctor/person/friend and embarks into taking fish oils, ginko, reserveratrol or grape seeds among many other supplements out there.

Specifically for grape seeds, there are a few published articles. Here are some links.

Hey Tmrox. Dr. Embry has developed a diet that he claims slows down(or maybe even stops) the MS diesase process. You can find the list of his foods on Direct-MS with lots of testimonials stating how the diet has "stopped MS in its tracks" and in some cases even improved symptoms. Dr. Embry stated he values empirical evidence and I was curious how he determined "empirically" that his diet was an effective therapy against MS. The 90% statement also baffled me. As for Freedman I wish he would change his style of confronation because as with Dr. Embry he sounds like a little child screaming "nanananana!" Thanks for responding to my post with some good solid points.

My encounters with Ashton Embry's writing is that it typically comes across as highly professional.
