Holly Shean and her death ... a few facts

Hi All!
This is Holly's older sister finally writing after the urging of Holly's companion to look at different things involving Holly's search for arresting her disease and her quest with Dr. Dake.
Firstly, my mother did NOT have a stroke. She did suffer a brain injury from a bad fall about six years ago.
Secondly, Holly's death was caused from a hemorrhage that was caused by blood thinners, and perhaps too aggressive a move for her.
HOWEVER, Holly was full of hope, knew EXACTLY what was going on with Dr. Dake, and wanted very much to take the chance rather than become a quadriplegic vegetable and suffer any more symptoms from the disease.
We also urged her to take it as far as she could because we had hopes too.
We were shocked by her death and were disappointed but we know that it would be risky. Her companion still looks for answers and wishes that all patients going through these procedures are monitored -- and which I agree -- and stay in the hospital for observation to make sure blood flow is controlled and there are no after affects.
Holly was very courageous, and that was a characteristic that she had all over her life. She was honest, forthright and she would have it no other way but to be a pioneer for this program. And I applaud Dr. Dake and any doctor who will actively try to figure out this disease and relieve symptoms and the progression of it in people who suffer from it.
It has been just over a year after her death, and I am with John -- her faithful, everloving companion, and my family as we remember and deal with our loss of her, and try to sort out our feelings.
And it helps us to talk about this, and gives us peace to share all this with you and discuss the truth of this amongst us.
Thank you!
Laura

Laura,

Thank you for writing in and speaking about Holly, her journey and personal courage. I joined TIms around the time you lost your beloved Holly, so I never got to converse with her personally on the board. I have read her posts though and they were full of hope. Her passing is a real shame and loss. My best to you, John and the rest of the family.

Thank you so much for coming in and sharing with us. Holly was a beacon for many. She was the 3rd person after Mom and my wife that I called on the way home from Stanford, we were looking forward to chatting again when she got home from her follow up. She had such an impact on those whom she touched even briefly, such a loss for your family, her family here at TIMS, it can't even be put into words. We miss her, even those like me that only had the briefest of encounters.

She will NEVER be forgotten. Give Jerkbutt a hug from his collective TIMS family, please keep us informed as to how you all are doing.
