CCSVI carried out on the 27 Dec 10 at the Edinburgh Clinic Scotland.
The procedure went well with findings of valve malfunctions on both the left and right side, the right side was stubborn and required double ballooning, the azygous vein was very narrow but opened well. The staff and consultant Donald Reid did a great job at making the whole process stress free.

Feeling fine after the procedure , however there was no noticeable improvement, however I was informed that as my symptoms were not noticeably bad that I may not see a difference immediately, however despite this I still feel that this is a preventative method, and it was the right route to take.

I have found that post op have had headaches, pain between my shoulder blades, and the right side of my neck was a little sore, but nothing a paracetamol could not cure.

My numb hands were little sorer after the op but I have been informed that it was the arms over head during the op which may have caused this !!!!who knows!!

Hi Ash, it was good to see you again today and it's great you've decided to join the forum.

The big tell tale for all of us will be the next 6 months leading up to the scan.

I did ask Dr Reid how they were monitoring the progress and it seems you'll have to do the motor skills and mental arithmetic tests again in June.

6 months seems a long time between tests to me but I guess if your patient base is running into the thousands there will be a lot of data in a couple of years time.

Ash, It would help other posters if you could tell people where you were (physically) before the procedure.

The internationally accepted rating for this is an EDSS score - you can find the different grades here:-

Emma is a 6.5 on this scale.

At a guess I'd say you swing between between a 2.0 and a 4.0 depending on the day of the week and how much exercise you've been doing. But thi sis a guess based ont eh two times we've met and chatted!

It's easier for other posters (or readers) to apply your results to a physical base line.

Just FYI - you had a CCSVI TREATMENT on Dec 27. CCSVI is the CONDITION of vein abnormalities that was treated, CCSVI is not the treatment itself.
