Where is the research on stents designed specifically for veins? :wink:

Don't want to leave your question unanswered, but there's not much to report.

There currently are no stents being used that were designed specifically for use in veins. Thus far, all the attention has been given to arteries, which are the major culprits in heart attacks and strokes.

There's been some talk of the development of dissolvable stents, and I'm sure that stent manufacturers are very likely beginning work on stents designed for veins, but are probably waiting before making any major R&D investments to see if the CCSVI hypothesis stands up to the considerable scientific scrutiny it will be under over the next 6 to 12 months (clinical trials and such).

Once it becomes clear that there is money to be made in producing venous stents, along with interventional gear specifically designed to probe the CNS venous structure, you can bet your sweet bippy that venous stents and equipment will hit the market sooner rather than later…

Good point! I'm so naive! The dollar bill rules a lot of the time when it comes to these things...Keeping fingers crossed! :oops: :)
