Given the horrific status quo regarding CCSVI in CANADA-if ccsvi patients develop complications post angioplasty aren't physicians in CANADA suppose to help patients? Wasn't that promise made months ago? What are the particulars on this specific issue as of Feb 2011?

My understanding is that they have been instructed to care for the patient in anyway they need. It doesn't make any sense to me the issues around this. People leave Canada to get bariactric surgery and if they come back home and have problems they get cared for.

I recently spoke to 2 Canadian IR's. One was positive and said they will do whatever needs to be done. The other basically said tough bananas for patients leaving and getting care elsewhere and that he had no intent at all to deal with them. Nice.

I got the care for the blood clot that developed in my stent. I was put on Heparin immediately and now I'm on Warfarin. It was really nice to see several doctors working together for my care.

I am in Ontario.

While I would hope that doctors would do whatever is medically reasonable to help people who develop serious problems as a result of the procedure, I fear that the lack of follow up people are talking about really means "having the procedure done again because it didn't work" or demanding doctors perform risky procedures to remove clots that are maybe best left alone, because otherwise they'll never be "liberated".

As how it should be, doctor's caring for the sick and CARING, period. One becomes a doctor because they want help those that need their help. To do otherwise is medecine run amok! Nice to see that you were helped!

If anyone knows of any Dr's names willing to do a follow-up, please let us know.

We are scheduled to go to PI in March 7.

Isn't that something. I don't get it either.

I suppose with bariatric surgery there is already well-known follow-up protocol. With CCSVI, there is disagreement over its very existence, disagreement over the important of the jugulars, disagreement over what should be considered a complication and what should be done about it? I remember LR saying that in the UK, if a jugular clots, the standard of care would be to leave it but that they treated hers because it was extensive clotting down the arm.

It is a roller coaster we are on, especially those of us who got on early. The canadian version of the roller coaster seems to be lacking some safety belts...and man what you guys pay per ride....
