I absolutely do.

My wife was diagnosed at age 46 (which statistically points towards a more aggressive than normal MS course) and had just been diagnosed a couple of months before entering the Tovaxin IIb clinical trial in which the entrance MRI showed a new enhancing lesion in addition to the "at least seven) lesions she was diagnosed with (which also made it seem that her MS course was going to be aggressive).

In the five years since her diagnosis she hasn't experienced anything else "MS" and I personally feel that it HAS to be due to the Tovaxin...BUT like you I'm not in a position of being able to prove it and therefore can't honestly and morally stand on the rooftops and shout to the glory of Tovaxin.

Other than honesty and morality I guess we're not so different.
It's depressing that the company behind Tovaxin ran out of steam after so much promise, but it looks as though it is once again ramping up for a Phase 3 trial. It sounds promising.

The fallacy in all this is to think of MS as absolutely an autoimmune disorder or absolutely a cerebral blood drainage defect. It could well be both. Rogue T-cells circulating in the blood might not cause as much cerebral and CNS nerve damage absent CCSVI. And without rogue T-cells abnormal cerebral drainage might be much more benign.

Instead both camps seem to be aiming for an all or nothing knock-out punch.

Yes, the community will steer developments in a certain direction. You would expect chaos and disorder, but that is not true. Wikipedia is the best example. We are witnessing here an intellectual transformation that is more sweeping than anything we have seen in the past. The technological revolution of the Internet provide extraordinary tools for searching, ordering and processing information. The public fora on the Internet create an environment where new connections and combinations are made every day as a result of data placed on the web. A truly global college emerges. The monopoly of information enjoyed by the medical sector and its various disciplines disintegrates.

And I might add: I think we are just at the beginning of things.

take a deep breath and disengage, folks

rules of the board
If you disagree with someone, please succintly state why and let it go at that. Point, counterpoint, counter-counter point, etc. is not useful-- the reality is that after the first disagreement, you will rarely convince another of something they feel strongly about unless you have shocking new information to share. The drawn-out debates also turn people off from reading the messages in the first place. If you really have to get something off your chest, please send that person a Private Message-- there is no need to have a long argument in public.
list of 22 similar previous rules postings (well, it'll be 23 now) 20 of which are in the CCSVI forum. http://www.thisisms.com/fsearch-1229931290-0.html
