I googled murine, it means mouse! This is the ccsvi mouse model, with mild but significant impairment of gait.

This will be presented at ISNVD next month. Who is Dr. Thanaporn? What do you think, mild impairments in gait, as long as it's significant it is a decent model for ccsvi? I belive they simply ligated both jugulars in the mice, forcing the blood flow to find other ways out from the brain.

Do mice have anything analagous to an azygous?

Someone has said that mice have a 2-year lifespan, is that accurate for these research mice?

The normal mouse is expected to have a single and left-sided azygos vein that develops from the paired embryonic cardinal venous system and drains most of the right and left thoracic walls into the left anterior vena cava.

Porama Koy Thanaporn joined the Section of Vascular Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine as clinical fellow in 2008. Koy received his undergraduate degrees in Bioengineering and Biology at the University of Pennsylvania summa cum laude where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar and was elected to Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Dr. Thanaporn connected with Dr. John Cooke’s (specialist in Vascular Medicine and endothelial biologist) research team at Stanford. Here is the link for Dr. Cooke.

Yup...that's my hero, Dr. Cooke and his colleague at Stanford. He read the Endothelial Health program I'd created for Jeff in the fall of 2009. It was based on his research for The Cardiovascular Cure. He wrote me back and we became e-mail correspondents. When the Zamboni paper was released in December '09, I sent it to him to read, and he said he thought there was something to it. He then gave the paper to Michael Dake, his office neighbor at Stanford. Dr. Dake read the paper and ended up meeting Dr. Zamboni at the Charing Cross Vascular Symposium the next week-- then coming home to Stanford and calling us up to test Jeff.

It's all still a bit extraordinary to me...I call it divine providence, others might call it coincidence. But I'm proud to know Stanford is continuing to study this.

Clearly, the mouse and the researchers are deluding themselves with a reverse-placebo effect. The mouse knows its veins have been altered, and it wants to please the researchers, who know exactly what they are hoping to see, and so the mouse limps a little.

The only way this test will ever prove anything is if you have one standard mouse, one with EAE, and one with the synthesized CCSVI, and of course, no one, researchers or mice or those collecting the results, can know which is which.

In other words, you have to at least use THREE BLIND MICE!!

Cece.... Where is Dr Thanaporn's paper that you quoted from !!!! This is the biggest news since Dr Zamboni's original paper and we would all love to read it. I know I (who have had the procedure) knew that the mouse model would be a turning point.
