Fantastic!! Thanks for the post. This further reinforces my contention that MS is not primarily an autoimmune disease, and that the inflamation is a natural "clean-up" activity, not the initial cause of the disease.

This also explains a couple of other things ; why immune suppressing drugs don't slow progression. The damage is still happening, but the immune response is damped. Why AEA is not a very good animal model of MS. It only mimics the immune response. (and the drugs that we got from that are only immune supressors. They work fine with AEA but no so much with human patients.)

Good job and this definitley should be a post here. Another reason why opening up those pesky veins should relieve the disease.

this is excelllent ! Food for thought in order to answer a very important question to continue to unveil claimed mistery of MS. This would be the second act being CCSVI the first. The question is: what are the damaging biological processes ocurring in the brain in presence of a chronic blood reflux that humankind has grouped under the name of MS on planet earth for the last 150 years!
i think some of these issues will be approached in ISNVD this march.

Very interesting about the role of nitric oxide and the ATP blood test.

It feels like, with the big puzzle piece of CCSVI and the vascular involvement in MS in place, all the other pieces come together too.

TIMSers have been hard at work on this for the last six years here (if I'm getting the start date of this forum right), but the shock is that the puzzle was solvable. Major kudos to everyone who has had anything to do with figuring this all out.

Something struck me as I was driving to work thinking about this, doesn't this presume that stenosis exists prior to immune system involvement, and if so, what about the early MS'ers without identifiable stenosis? Perhaps it starts with the valves, which haven't been on the radar as long as physically identifiable stenotic veins due to imaging shortcomings?

Myself, I'd like to see very early MS'ers and CIS'ers imaged inside and out and around again, IVUS, Trans Doppler, the works. Of course we know there's been ample CIS'ers already identified as CCSVI and treated, so hopefully more aggressive, early scanning will be the wave of the future. Then we can rename CCSVI to NOD (Nitrous Oxide Diffusion) or something like that, and keep MS strictly for straight immune system malfunction, should their NOD and/or ATP numbers indicate no particular involvment of those factors. Maybe start the NOD society or something.

Interesting link. There's a different thread about complex migraines, but anyway headache/migraine is prominent among people with MS. The relevant thing here is the nitric oxide.

Just to buld towards puzzle solution: probable immune system malfunction was so intensely buried in our minds that it is difficult for us to get rid of it. And perhaps it is right. Who knows. But many facts are hard to accept
i,e inmune system get confused by myelin but ONLY in the CNS. Noone has reported so far a lymphocyte attack in her toes.
Friends: the day immune system really mistake myelin we will quickly have to look for a new forum to participate..... in heaven (or hell?)
