I had my second CCSVI procedure in Baltimore by Dr Haskal last Wednesday March 16. The major reason was concern about my left IJV that was shown to be about 80% occluded by a local IR via ultrasound.

The good news is that my azyos and right IJV stent look good. Dr Haskal also discovered more narrowing in my right IJV above the stent that might require treatment in the future depending on my symptoms.

The bad news is that the stent in my left IJV is 100% occluded by scar tissue. I already knew that it was at least 80% blocked from the ultrasound, so it was a real shock to find out that I now have NO FLOW through my left IJV.

Dr Haskal did say that this could be fixed but that it would be a more complicated and different procedure and he wants to wait and see how my symptoms are.

Dr Haskal said the problem of scar tissue and stents is a known problem. So maybe anyone considering stents should be cautious about it.

How are your symptoms? My left vein is clotted totally now 100% so I know how disappointed you must feel. (I am afraid of my future too)

Which side do we consider the left/right side? Is it our left or the dr's left when they are facing us?

yikes! from slow flow to no flow!! hearing a lot of this as time goes on. maybe too much but for sure more than any of us anticipated.

i just wonder how many of us are running around that really just don't know what is going on with our veins since the procedure.

it is what it is but i hope the very near future has some real good ideas on how to keep this from occurring.

in the meantime, i hope the both of you can get this resolved and you both get to feeling better.

I'm very sorry to hear of both of you having travails.

In imaging and description, Drs will use the actual, or anatomical L/R - your L/R.

In my case it is the IJV on my left side. Dr Haskal said that the scar tissue can be too hard to drill with a diamond tipped drill. UGH. I am imagining that any future work on that vein will probably be open surgery. But I really don't know. Dr Haskal is still doubtful that a blood thinner will help, but nevertheless he put me on Plavix for six months. The scarring is not caused by the blood, but by the stent Dr Haskal is right about blood thinners probably not being very helpful in my case.

All my 3 veins are now closed because of scarring. Thank you for posting your case. I think this is happening too often. And some are blaming it on blood clotting and this is not the case.
