Folks, i find it amazing what can be found using the google search engine.
The following links I find incredibly interesting as they relate to cerebral
blood flow.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_v ... thrombosis

Even though this is a rare disorder i find it striking it affects more women than men.
Quote:"Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is rare, with an estimated 3-4 cases per million annual incidence in adults. While it may occur in all age groups, it is most common in the third decade. 75% are female.[3]"

MS affects more women than men we all know that! But what i find striking is that percentage falls about in the same line with the ratio of men to women dx with ms.

This bares the question: Is ms really an over reaction of the immune
system (autoimmune disease)..?? Or is it just a normal reaction of the
immune system fighting inflammation due to hypoxic cell death...???

Here's another interesting article on Cerebrovascular Disease..

<shortened url>

Abstract:
The vascular endothelium is an indispensable organ in the regulation of tonicity and vascular homeostasis. Endothelial dysfunction is a marker of atherosclerosis and contributes to the atherogenic process and the development of atherothrombotic complications. Endothelial dysfunction is the common meeting point among factors for vascular risk and launches complex cellular and biochemical interactions that are characterized by oxidative stress and an intense inflammatory response. The strategic importance of the concept of endothelial dysfunction arises from the following facts: its diagnosis is simple, it allows the identification of asymptomatic arteriosclerotic subjects with a high risk of developing atherothrombotic complications, it is reversible, and it responds to various therapeutic strategies.

I find it interesting that more women than men have heart disease and
strokes!!

Women and Cardiovascular Disease Facts

Overview

More women die from heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases (CVD) than men, yet many women do not realize they are at risk. These diseases kill more women each year than the next five causes of death combined.1

So my last question is: Could this be the answer that if CCSVI exists
why it affects more women than men..???

And my last question is: If MS is truly an autoimmune disease. Can the
autoimmune theory explain why more women are affected than men..??
