Great tool. You might be surprised. Once you've completed the questionaire you can compare your answers to the various party's opinions by clicking the 'your position per statement' tab in the results section.

p.s. Vote LIBERAL!! :)
Dr. Michael Ignatieff, Leader of the Liberal Party in Canada , has stated publicly (e.g., in an interview with the Globe and Mail, 16 December 2010) that a Liberal Government would launch clinical trials that include testing of and treatment for CCSVI in MS sufferers.
Hi PCakes,

I did the vote compass, and I have to say that I think it is flawed. The categorizations seem to aptly fit the (traditional) core values of each party, but not their recent practices or proposals. I came in square at the cross-axes, and was actually "closer" to the "Conservatives" than any other, but I am a political junky, and warned of Harper 20 years ago. I am closer to a Marxist-Leninist-Libertarian than this bunch of pond scum that call themselves Conservatives. What is missing is decency. Give me Joe Clark, Ed Broadbent, Preston Manning...

The Liberals, or NDP are more likely than the Cons to help us get treatment at home. The NDP will hold the balance of power - in all likelihood. Mind you, if they cover my airfare with a ride to Italy or Poland, or New York in an F35, I might overlook last summer's CIHR delusion.

Hey J,
Fair statement but I found it a good learning tool. The CBC lean is well known so 'grain of salt' must be included ;)
With over 600,000 participants already, I am hopeful that Canada is going to step up to the polls this time. :)

I agree with what you say, with gusto. Even worse than them calling themselves Conservatives, it seems the press is fond of calling them Tories. They wouldn't know a Tory from a toilet-seat.

The NDP won't hold any balance if we elect a Liberal majority. People are used to minority governments now, but the other thing also happens. :)

It's easy. If the Liberal have a majority of seats in Parliament, they won't need the NDP or other parties to vote with them. If they don't have a majority, they will need one of the other parties to vote with them to pass any legislation or initiatives.

And if the Conservatives get a majority, you can be sure we will say goodbye to any hope for CCSVI going anywhere in Canada,

and 'the other thing'? ..I'll assume is an election every 2-3 years.. I'm good with a Liberal minority as long as the 'other thing' doesn't happen.

If by "the other thing", you mean a coalition, turn off the very effective propaganda that has seemingly infected the Canadian psyche. Any minority government is in a state of coalition, just not formal. I would love to see a formal coalition betwixt the Libs and NDP above any other form that we might end up with, or have had in my lifetime. The "cons" have to go, or at least Harper, and the fiends that came from Ontario PCs (Baird, Flaherty, Pollievre, etc.).All their decent people have bailed (Prentice, Strahl, Brison to name a few)

With a formal coalition, we could easily get 4 years of the best government we have ever had. It's a de facto Proportional Representation - which we sure don't have now. It's just too bad to have need for Bloc support. That is the fly in the ointment. Maybe they won't need it...

My grandmother always said "Great minds think alike." I agree Not Johnson. Maybe the more Harper harps about a possible coalition, the more people he will send to the Liberals or NDP. (but don't tell him!).

I hate to tell you folks this, but the Liberals need our help. Beg, borrow, steal the support of all your friends and acquaintances. Tell them why you need them to vote Liberal. I would ordinarily not come close to asking anyone for political support, since I believe voting is a sacred and personal duty to whatever you believe in, but this is an exceptional time. At least it is in my life.

I spent hours, altogether, trying to go from sitting to standing, in a gym. I only could do it about once every 20 tries or so. I needed a grab bar. Today I noticed I can do it with ease, from sitting on the edge of my bed, every time I try. This is very shocking too me. Who knows where all this is going?

I am sort of banking on 2 things to help assure a Liberal majority: The Seeker, by the Who, and Imagine, by John Lennon. Specifically, the sight and sound of mr. Harpo covering them.

"Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

I just voted! It was so easy.

I will be in the U.S. (no, not for treatment!) before and after the election, so I will miss both regular and advance polls. So, I got my special ballot from my Returning Officer and just mailed it back. Here is some info on special ballots and accessibility in voting.

VOTING BY SPECIAL BALLOT

This special ballot is a voting option if you can’t get to the polls for various reasons. So if MS makes it difficult for you to go out to vote, get a special ballot and pop it in the mail. It can also be used by Canadian citizens living outside of Canada.

Here’s link to information about voting by special ballot.

http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?se ... 540&lang=e

Application with ID must be received by Elections Canada no later than April 26. Completed ballot must be received back by May 2. It’s faster if you request one from your riding’s Returning Officer than if you request it from Ottawa.

Confidentiality is guaranteed with inner, outer and mailing envelopes. Elections Canada pays the postage for your return ballot if mailed from within Canada!

ACCESSIBILITY FOR VOTING:

In addition to special ballot, Elections Canada has many ways to accommodate disabilities. All polling stations must be level access. There are ballots for people with visual disabilities and you can have assistance if you are unable to mark a ballot.

Elections Canada will have polling stations set up in long term care facilities and can take a ballot to bedside. An Electoral Officer will even bring a special ballot to your home so you can vote there if you need that because of disability!

Here's a link to more info about accessibility in voting.

http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?se ... 505&lang=e

So, there is no excuse for not voting. As PCakes suggested, we need to get 75,000 Canadians with MS, our friends and family voting.

Special ballot are available now.

Advance polls are April 22, 23 and 25.

Election day is May 2.

Let’s do it Canada!

Has Ignatieff said anything since the election has been called about funding CCSVI trials, etc. ...I know he stated in a Dec. interview that he would but it would be good to hear it in his platform now....maybe I've missed it, not sure....
