This is What it Must Feel like to Witness Medical History-in the Making

Sitting through two days of research presentations at the first annual meeting of the International Society of Neurovascular Disease (ISNVD), three things became manifest: One, that this is what it must feel like to witness medical history in the making. Two, that science is just beginning to twig onto the complexity of the venous system—and the vascular system’s role in neurodegenerative diseases. And three, that Canadian multiple sclerosis patients bear a double burden—living with a devastating, degenerative condition and residing in a country that’s increasingly exhibiting a singular lack of political or medical will to treat them for something as basic as insufficient blood flow.

Thanks Cheer. I found this to be both an invigorating and yet infuriating read. Maclean's magazine is a popular magazine in doctors' waiting rooms here in Canada. We owe it to make sure this issue is easy for all to find - tabbed and highlighted.

very interesting .... and well done . Are they referring to Buffalo as the first double blind clinical trial in North America ? [ or the World ... actually ]

the headline is stunning ...... should result in increased magazine sales ..... at the very least ....

all kidding aside ...... if you have an upcoming Neuro appointment .... and are afraid to bring CCSVI up ......in your examination ....... I would suggest a copy of that magazine - with the article highlighted - somehow someway ...... land ANONYMOUSLY on your doctors desk ..... some time before your appointment

this will give you plenty of time to practice your shctick ... you know ..... your puzzled look .... and reply .... ZZ S what ? Whoz that

yes ...... getting things done by ..... making others think it was their idea ........ is how the world works .

Hi Mr.S,

Saw my neuro yesterday and he was both accomodating and interested. He was even genuinely interested in ISNVD overview and said that he will work more closely with me re: future interventions. Post-intervention follow-up still needs some more work. He spoke about having to reach out to vascular surgeons regarding stroke research/treatment regarding his patients!

MS Clinic neuro needs some work ;) Hope Springs Eternal. One neurologist at a time is my motto.

Dr. Mehta presented some preliminary trial results. QOL and fatigue improvements at 4 months? It's in the abstracts from ISNVD.
