Thanks for the post Danie, this is incredible, it's only a matter of time with MS, I feel. Obviously good blood flow to the brain matters! (no pun intended).

I was gonna say, I thought even the most closed-minded people must need their autonomic functions. I was sure some people I've met in these parts were already on bypass, but now we have scientific proof. Ain't technology grand? :-)

What is interesting is that this surgerey is for those who are at risk for stroke. I feel like I am having a stroke in slow motion.

The neurologists own the territory of your body that the blood-brain-barrier is part of. The arteries are on the other side of that. Don't stray above the neck, or beyond the capillaries. Property ownership is an extremely serious business in this country.

In case you were interested it seems well known (using familiar vascular surgical techniques to find out more) that in both humans and primates, the same cognitive problems (executive, especially) found in 'MS' are caused by arterial hypertension (which also leads to stroke).

That is great!

Reading the subject line I thought it was about bypassing the narrow minded people's brains so that they can understand new ideas. An application comes to my mind.. Hmmmm.....

I was thinking something similar! Brain bypass... my first thought was "what? um, how can they bypass the brain?" LOL
