Had a doppler done by Zamboni trained radiologist(so it said on the literature) and scored a 3/5 for CCSVI, qualifying factor for CCSVI is 2/5. Says i can have further testing in the form of an MRI and then it says that Dr. Zamboni's hypothesis is still highly controversial within the medical community and a decision to proceed with more invasive testing such as venography ought to take this into consideration.

There is a lot of other stuff as well like the results from the Supine study and the Upright study but over all the word mild is used so i guess thats enough for a 3 out of 5.

The test cost $250 CAN $265 US just wanted to find out if i had it. It's amazing to see CCSVI develop into such a buisness so fast.

Which 2? Want to get even the least bit specific? Do you trust the claims on the literature? Is there any way of verifying this "Zamboni training"? I don't want to cause any cognitive dissonance, but since the watchword seems to be skepticism, if not paranoia, were there any technical details at all? Did they let you watch? They didn't let me watch. That seems to be part of the whole mystique of the Big Fancy Machine that allows everybody from car-mechanics to neurosurgeons to command a high salary and better working conditions. I think I put up with way too much BS. Dr. Bob showed me every millimeter, on the screen, in real time, because he wanted to.

Off Topic? I have decided the Canadian Public is politically Doomed. I know, it ain't over till it's over, but, I saw Red Green on TV last night and that reminded me that here in the hinterland survival of the fittest really does rule, so if we have to wait 5 more years to get rid of Harpo and 400 more people die every year we will be 2000 people more strong and free than we were before. That's democracy. Wonder if DUCTAPE helps stenosis?

Man, wish my test only cost 250 haha. The MRV alone was thousands. Not my thousands, insurance thousands, granted in a university hospital not a clinic or whatever.

Sounds like a cheap test every MS'er should get, presuming they can get to a "Zamboni certified" sonographer. I have no doubt that we will eventually see many "Zamboni protocol" specialists and who's to know what exactly that means? Makes me think of food packaging, where what is stated on the package, doesn't quite mean exactly what we may think it means.

So what's your next step? Just curious about what it would show, or making a serious dive into the deep end of the pool?

Indeed, while the "Zamboni" protocol can be done very quickly by a 'master' it is involved, and depends to a large extent on what is found. While my ~$400 examination in quebec was quick and cheap, I was very unsatisfied with it, and found out afterward that it a) found nothing (except that the examiner remarked my blood had the consistency of peanut butter) and b) depended on the deprecated Valsalva maneuver.

It is a fairly extensive protocol which you can research for yourself. One of the tricky parts is imaging the deep cerebral veins. Because the skull is solid, it carries sound waves differently. I used an ultrasonic system once that listened for weld defects in hardening metal. It also operated at very high frequency. Because of that, and the depth of the veins, the probe must be the special high frequency transponder, or so I believe.

Anyway, Robbie, now you can at least see you have a good reason to save up your dough and get the best treatment you can afford, with a gold-standard x-ray fluoroscope, from the best IR you can find.

Robbie, was the testing just to see if you have it, but you have no plans to go forward with treating at this time?
