I would not like to see a lot of competition develop in this area of medicine.

While I think it is important to keep gouging and greed-heads under control we still don't know enough, and doctors should be at least collecting data, at best running field trials, which will cost money. There is no guarantee except their professional consciences, that they will spend the time and money it takes to do this.

If bidding erupts there will be a temptation to cut the data collection and science out of the business. That would be the wrong direction at this early stage of things. I don't agree that everyone must be in a clinical trial or not treated at all, but I think it may be up to the IRs and vascular surgeons to impose some kind of self-discipline on the bean-counting end of things, and there needs to be some kind of rational economic model around fund-raising and science associated with this research or it risks stagnation.

Does anyone agree or am I just being paranoid again?

I agree and I don't think you're being paranoid. As someone else said, cost should not be the first consideration when choosing a doctor to perform the CCSVI procedure.
