I just spent the past few days in Albany. We made the 6 hour trip by car. Everything went as expected. I had occluded ijvs but the azygous vein was fine. Took a little too long to come out of the anethstesia. My neck was tender the same day and the day after. After 24 hours, we started the trip back. Thats when the headache started. I know some would say the Jersey Turnpike will give anyone a headache ;) but this is a little different. It feels like a pressure headache and the amount of pain seems to change based on how I turn my head. I've taken my limit of pain meds. I'm staying hydrated. I do have a little fever but really it is slight. No problems at the groin area.
I know it is early but should I be concerned about clots? They are rare, right? Has anyone tried upping the prescribed one aspirin a day to get rid of the headache? Can anyone point me to a thread or site where post-procedure headaches are discussed? Thx so much!

It is so simple to get checked for clots. It's a cheap doppler ultrasound and any IR can do it. No CCSVI experience needed.

Clots can happen immediately post-procedure, even the same evening. I am not saying that this is a clot, only that it is something to rule out. These veins are important....

Call Albany asap for their advice. good luck in your recovery.

The tenderness in the neck is not unusual, and the headaches could be a result of the change in blood flow, or residual if your dural, sigmoid, etc., sinuses were investigated. I had transient head ache (mild), and tenderness in the chest and neck after my own procedure. There is a very effective accupressure point betwen your thumb and forefinger that is good for complete relief from headache. I wish I could show you, but if you pinch the area of the muscle at the joint, you will feel some pain there. As you continue to apply pressuer (use the thumb and forefinger of the opposite hand), the headache should fade with the tenderness of the muscle - 30 seconds maximum.

The fever is more troubling - as far as I understand - and ought to be checked out. Any ER doctor can check for clots/flow in the jugulars with DUS. It does not have to be an IR or other specialist. Does not have to be Zamboni protocol.

I am not a doctor, so please consult one before taking my opinion.

I agree that you ought to call your treating IR in Albany, too.

Good idea to be checked out - especially for the fever. I had headaches, chest pain and raised BP for 5 weeks after my procedure. I believe now that it was from better bloodflow, my body needing to get used to it and irritation of the veins from the ballooing.

However I live in Canada and noone had a clue what was causing it so had numerous uneccessary tests on my heart.

I hope you can get some answers.

At the clinic and if things get worse I will page the doctor.
The excruciating headache subsided this morning, and all that is left of it is a swollen gland and slightly swollen below the ear. The fever also has subsided so I think I have turned a corner and am now looking forward to any changes I may be fortunate enough to experience with my MS. Also will be using the tracking topic thread to report progress. Exciting times!
