Heres an interesting recent study on flavonoids and the CNS
Flavonoid Permeability across the Blood-Brain Barrier
The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is mainly formed by brain capillary endothelial cells, however other cell types such as pericytes, astrocytes and neuronal cells also play an important role [25]. Brain capillary endothelial cells differ from peripheral endothelial cells as brain endothelial cells have tight junctions which prevent paracellular transport of small and large water-soluble compounds from blood to the brain [25]. Transcellular transport is further limited due to low vesicular transport and high metabolic activity. Altogether, the BBB functions as a physical and metabolic barrier [25]. A prerequisite for CNS activity is therefore that flavonoids and their conjugates are able to traverse the BBB and enter the CNS.
Cognition and Neurodegeneration
Evidence is mounting that flavonoids have effect on memory, cognition and neurodegeneration. Although many of the studies in this field have been performed with flavonoid-rich fruits, both these studies and studies with isolated flavonoids indicate that flavonoids have potential to protect neurons against injury induced by neurotoxins and neuroinflammation, a potential to activate synaptic signalling and an ability to improve cerebrovascular blood flow, as has recently been reviewed [64].

I'll give it a go, two a day, and up my coloured fruit & veg also.
Seems a pretty natural thing, worth a try.
My Dr doesn't have a clue on these types of supplements!
A bit of an update here. I'm still taking the hesperidin/rutin and a week ago I gave up
smoking also (35 year habit). I've been sleeping so well, and having really vivid, movie length dreams
every single night. I've suffered from interrupted sleep since this all started four years ago.
Amazing results though, I'm sleeping around 8 hours straight a night.
Overall I feel great. I've never been able to give up smoking before, I've tried many times. but I just feel so calm about it all this time. In fact I feel more calm in general since the iron reduction.

Beth--congrats on quitting smoking! That is huge...really happy you found a successful way to do it, and are staying calm and sleeping well. That's going to help your general health so much. A multi-model approach works best. And you're doing a lot with lifestyle and supplements. Continued healing,

I have been taking Diosvein 1 cap 3x/day for 10 days to help circulation, but no effect.
CCSVI had no effect either on my frozen legs/purple feet. Any ideas?

Trent, where did you have your CCSVI treatment done? Was it recently or early on? It's possible that stenosis was missed or you had early restenosis. It took three months for some of my improvements to start happening, and if both of my veins had restenosed in that time instead of just one restenosing, I probably would have been saying I'd missed out on those improvements (heat intolerance, ability to sweat, mild foot drop improved).

I am 100% convinced you have a blockage somewhere that has not been addressed. My swollen/purple foot became normal 5 hours after the first procedure and returned to being swollen/purple about 10 days later. I restenosed and was treated 3 weeks after after first time and again within hours my foot was 100% normal. I restenosed, again, and now I am 100% blocked in all 3 veins. Doctors are unable to perform angio. Both my feet are now swollen and purple worse than ever. So... the more severe the stenosis the more swollen and discoloured the feet become. Hmmm?

So sorry, Trent. Are you mobile or able to exercise at all? Movement is a good way to keep blood flowing, and increase endothelial health. There are other supplements, nutrition and lifestyle approaches, too. For more information on the many ways to keep blood flowing:

hope you find some answers!
