Well, this is very strange case for me and to be honest I cannot believe it.
A Slovak patient, woman, had CCSVI procedure in 2010 in Slovakia. She got 4 stents in her jugulars.
She was having regular follow ups - I do not know the exact results. Only last week she posted, doctors found restenosis and she needed second procedure. Today she posted her results from the procedure. She had no restenosis but the doctor found a stent migration. They tried to pull it out from up from down but without success. The stent was growed on the vein wall (well, I can imagine after such a long time). She has to inject blood thinners and has next follow up in 30 days. She hopes doctors find some solution.

My question is: Is it really possible that a stent can migrate after such a long time?

I think she had the stent migration short time after her treatment but they only tried to do an intervention now. But of course I might be wrong. However the stent is not far from its original place so it is not dangerous for the patient. Who knows what the future brings.

Erika, I'm just guessing here, that perhaps the stent deployed either too soon, or too late, from the catheter during the first procedure, yet the blood flow was still flowing well through all the stents.

Since this was noticed on the second procedure, they will have to go in again and add the correct size stent, or two, to overlap the stents placed originally. This will insure that the lone stent doesn't migrate further over time (years). JMO

I don't believe stents are everlasting. That is my concern because I have stents.

Does anyone know how long a stent-lifespan is? I have three Eve3 stents. Made of titanium, and with nickel alloy.

I think Erika's right and that the stent migration had to have happened within the first few weeks after the procedure. After about six weeks, the stent should have endothelized and at that time it would not be able to migrate. I have read of someone else with a minor stent migration.

I don't think we know yet what the lifespan of stents will be when placed in the jugulars. They may be subject to more movement stress here than in more stable areas of the body. I can remember one person reporting that they'd had a stent fracture but only that one person.

OK, so she will perhaps need another stent.
Well, I have only one but she will have 5! Her other 3 stents are fine.
At least her blood flow is OK so far.

Patients in Slovakia or Czech Republic do not pay for the procedure, neither for stents maybe only some very small fee for Plavix, etc.
They do not pay for MRIs, CTs neither Doppler, whatever...
It is our health insurance company. Of course they pay quite big money for drugs or hospitals...
However, the same drugs are more expensive in the USA for example.
Another fact is that handicapped people get very small pensions. Nurses make about 400 Euro per month.

I paid cash for everything, every little thing was added too, at the hospital during my first procedure. For one stent the cost was $2,180.15+. I think that price was over the top.

Perhaps if the stent didn't clot up in three days, I would think the cost was worth it. I was shocked to hear it happened so fast. My next procedure at the clinic 3 days later, was much better. Our hospitals Erika, charge for everything, even a darn aspirin is probably $5.00 or more.

I had Medical insurance but they would not pay. I think the hospital messed up and used the wrong ins. code for billing, after the fact, so MS was mentioned. It was there first time billing for this, and a costly one for me.

I was the first person, ever, who signed up to go cash for CCSVI at the hospital. My bad. (mistake)

Yes CD, I know you must pay for everything and I also know drugs are more expensive there than here.
On the other hand we must do some extra very high payments if we need some operation - not always but often. There are a lot of special fees. I was only talking about CCSVI. Like I simply do not buy some supplements because my income doesn´t allow me to do so.
It is not easy to get referral for MR for example.
I wish medical system changes in the USA even in Canada but I understand how difficult it is. I have problems here because not many doctors use internet not many doctors speak English as well as patients, so many changes will come here 10 years later or even more.
Oh, what a life And then somebody asks me stupid questin like why don´t I enjoy life? ...
