This doesn't sound to be the likely cause of ms to me. Maybe I'm just jaded by all of the ccsvi stuff that free flows through these forums, but if this is what is behind ms, then why are HSCT and immune dampening drugs so effective?

I don't know enough about HSCT to comment on that, but I don't think that immune dampening drugs are all that effective especially when one considers long term progression.

Immune dampening drugs effective??!!....hmmm....I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you on that statement.

This recent discovery does sound interesting though and like anything in medical science, it will take a lot more work to prove. In the meantime I can see the established world of MS medicine again circling the wagons and preparing their attacks on this new publication.

i hope he meant to say, Immune dampening drugs are ineffective
the type of trauma can be fixed by seeing a Upper Cervical Care Dr, visit one to see if you can benefit from this kind of care with a simple $60 xray

visit the chiropractic forums to learn more

It was nice to see the upright mri pictures and video We will know more info. When some surgeon can fix the MS patient after seeing the upright mri scans By whatever means he/she will use It won't take long brfore a MS person gets a upright scan and finds a surgeon

In fact, this is not the first, but the second report about CSF abnormalities. There is a previous article from Zamboni, which states a relationship between CCSVI and CSF flow:

CSF dynamics and brain volume in multiple sclerosis are associated with extracranial venous flow anomalies
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20351670

AIM:
We previously reported unexpectedly robust associations between vascular haemodynamic (VH) anomalies in the principal extracranial cerebral veins, causing chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI), and multiple sclerosis (MS). Aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the VH changes and MRI measures of MS disease severity in a cross sectional survey.

METHODS:
The number of anomalous VH criteria were measured using an echo-color Doppler, whereas CSF flow, atrophy and lesion measures were obtained from quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis in sixteen consecutive relapsing-remitting MS patients, (mean age: 36.1+/-SD 7.3 years, disease duration: 7.5+/-1.9 years and median EDSS: 2.5) and in 8 healthy controls (HC) with similar age and sex distributions.

RESULTS:
All 16 MS patients investigated and none of the HCs met the VH criteria for CCSVI (P<0.0001). MS patients showed significantly lower net CSF flow compared to the HC (P=0.038) that was associated with number of anomalous VH criteria present (r=0.79, P<0.001). Moreover, increases in the number of anomalous VH criteria present were negatively associated with lower whole brain volume (Spearman R=-0.5, P=0.05).

CONCLUSION:
VH changes occur more frequently in MS patients than controls. Altered VH is associated with abnormal CSF flow dynamics and decreased brain volume.

espicially if any spinal problems are taken care of early on an upper cervicle chiro. or other types of chiropractors may be the answer for some. others may need corrective surgery.

FYI. Full paper available here

I found someone in Australia that has this equipment. I am going to check what I will need to get a scan done, and if they are able to replicate the scan used in this study. Normally in Australia, only a neurologist can refer someone for an MRI scan (in regards to MS).

The thing which is confusing to me at this stage is, the images appear so detailed, however, the machine is only 0.6 Tesla's.
