Re-Stenosis

I suspect that after treatment to relieve stenosis in my jugular veins in February that my veins have re-stenosed. The doctor that carried out the procedure said that it was pointless to carry out a 2nd procedure. I was reading somewhere that in most cases a 2nd op was necessary in the long term. Anyone have any feedback.

In many cases a second procedure gives little improvements. My second did little and I restenosed again. In my case, as I was one of the early ones (June 2010) to have this done my valves were not addressed. Were yours? I would see if other doctors could help. Does not hurt to ask.

Is it simple restenosis or is it an occlusion? I too would seek a second opinion. My left jugular partially restenosed but my right jugular stayed open. My best results came after the second procedure.

There has been talk about the possibility of diminishing returns with multiple procedures, but there is no obvious explanation for such a phenomenon.

There is also the possibility of stenosis that has been missed. Based on the abstracts we've seen, approximately 10% of patients might have a stenosis that is missed if IVUS is not part of their treatment protocol. (The math is a guesstimate, which drives me crazy, but by my own estimation, based on only two abstracts, it's about 25% of patients with azygous disease, which is about 40% of all CCSVI patients.)

Did you have a loss of improvements? That would indicate restenosis as well.

I have experienced a reoccurance of many symptoms but not all. I suppose the improvements i have experienced were more than i expected, so in that regard my procedure had a limited success. My biggest regret is that bladder improvements did'nt last. I cant run to the loo so i have to stay in close proximity at all times. Its a bit of a pain in the butt.

I just had my third procedure and am experiencing a benefit. i know I will need more because I declined a couple oif stents, will do them one-at a-time if needed. One in our area had his best results after #'s 6 and 7.
