When researchers have been studying a certain topic their whole careers and become biased, they might cherry pick data and (consciously or not) set up their studies in ways that will give them results to back up what they have already come to believe.

great article. it should be a reminder to us here. if for no other reason that while tons of research and cabillions spent disseases whether it be named ms or say als. where is the concrete undisputed evidence? that anything so far is doing much good. true they have come up with some good stuff, say penicillin amongst others. but nothing concrete enough written in stone of causes and cures. and as a rule of thumb the meds create other problems--so the beat goes on-and -on.
