DISCUSSION
CSF dynamics are direct consequence of the arterial pulsations that enter the
cranium, and the main intracranial properties that determine how CSF reacts to
this arterial input are resistance, compliance, and inertia. The main finding of this
study is the higher C2-CSF amplitude-derived measures in MS patients
compared to HC. An increase of peak-to-peak CSF flow has been shown to be
related to a decrease of compliance [13]. CSF outflow and inflow peaks, IJVs flow
rate normalized by the total arterial inflow showed to be the most sensitive
measures for the distinction between patients and HC. RRMS showed the
highest cranial CSF peak and the lowest flow through IJVs, conversely the
progressive courses have values similar to those of HC.
