I'm not a doctor but my understanding is that they can only migrate within the first several weeks (up to 6 weeks?). After that they are endothelized with the vein wall grown over and around them and they are part of the vein. But do you have access to your doctor? This is a question the doctor should be answering for all patients who get stents. It's a commonly asked question too that might be causing people needless worry.

Is there a FAQ? That should be on it.

My 3 left stents are pretty easy to see still but my right solo stent is invisible on the MRI now. I'm always in awe at what the human body does to insults, or even perceived slights. It's like the stent vanished, obviously it's still there but just cozied up pretty well inside the vein wall. That's on my 3 year follow up btw. :) Enjoy! (I guess?)

After re-reading my comment, just wanted to reiterate that the left and right are both good, that was just about what shows up clearly on the MRI is all.. Will update my thread eventually to more accurately portray what's going on after three years.

My collection of stents are great after three years is the short version... :)
