Pain in stent site

Hi everybody,

I have been experiencing some pain in certain neck positions this last month. I feel it more in the evenings.
And coincidentally, I happen to be working on the computer for at least 12 hrs a day this last month, so I am 99% familiar with the reason for the pain. I had the surgery in June 2010 (6 cm stent in the right jug in the neck), I had the pain then, quite a lot, but not much in the last year.
So, how serious is this?! Any experiences?

thnx for your input

best

I don't think anybody can really tell you how serious the issue is, because there just isn't that much experience with stents placed in jugular veins. All of the stents used in CCSVI treatment were originally designed for use in arteries, and the only cohort of patients who had them placed in jugular veins were late stage kidney failure patients whose veins collapsed due to the constant pressure put on them during the dialysis process. Therefore, there's very little data available regarding the patency of stents placed in jugular veins.

My best advice would be to get to a medical professional and have the situation thoroughly checked out. You certainly don't want to let what may now be a minor problem develop into a serious one by waiting too long. Sounds like there is a pretty good chance the problem may stem from your recent extended computer use and is nothing serious, but better safe than sorry.

Best of luck to you, please keep us posted.

Is it possible to get it checked out by an IR? When you had pain back in 2010, did the IR on follow-up find any explanation for it? The concern is always if a clot is forming. Is it a really big stent? Do you think it's affecting the muscles around the vein? If you do neck stretches, do they help or hurt? Good luck, listen to Marc, talk to a doctor if possible. I think most people who have stents don't feel them at all, is that right?
