Hi to all fellow Canadian's, I was wondering if any of you have had any success in getting any help financially from goverment or with insurance companies. I'm in New Brunswick and I'm not sure maybe it even differs from province to province.

Any help or advive would be appreciated.
Thanks Glenn

Hi Glenn

I'm from Manitoba and I didn't get any help from the government (except a tax refund of approx 3% of the cost of trip and treatment) or from insurance. Really clarify with your Doctor at home about the type of follow-up they will provide. In Manitoba the follow-up is only if your GP thinks you are having problems. The radiologists don't acknowledge restenosis or scarring down of the vein. The only thing they report is complete occlusions and then they aren't prepared to deal with the issue.

Things have not changed in Canada (not Manitoba for sure) in the last 2 - 3 years.

Good luck and I fully believe that CCSVI is real and if treated properly can make a real difference in your disease.

Hi 81,

You can expense trip+procedure on your/spouse tax return. Got back 18% of total expenses on spouse's 2010 Return. Keep ALL your receipts.

See the link http://www.gnb.ca/0162/programs/MS/index-e.asp for application to NB MS Assistance Program. You can claim $2500, but get your application in before March 31 if you can.

I just found out that they extended this program for another year so if there are any other people from N.B out there who are thinking about doing this, there is $2500 of help available.

There was a CTV News item last week (http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/interest-fad ... 1.12099150) which indicates less interest in MS financial support in NB than expected. Also, Coleman in the video clip says there have been no new applications for support in the last two months. Did you not apply within the last two months?

I just checked into it after you gave me the info. I talked to my local MLA & he checked it out for me & said that they was going to extend the program for 1 more year and that the website would be updated soon. I'm just going by what he told me.
