"for the life of me ..... I cannot understand how anyone ........ can dispute the theory of CCSVI ."

You know, at one time everyone thought the world was flat. And when the idea was proposed that the world was not flat, but rather it was round, I am sure someone said ' for the life of me ..... I cannot understand how anyone ........ can dispute that world was not flat.'

It is easy to dispute the theory of CCSVI, many have done so as there is ample evidence to do so.

But does anyone know for sure whether the claims about CCSVI are accurate - not really.

BUT, with so many so called 'cures' for an incurable (at this time) disease, one needs to be a bit skeptical, especially with potentially dangerous ones.

What comes to mind are the single center studies, where they track all procedures at their center. Those have been helpful in showing that the procedure is safe. There was one of those presented at SIR this year, although that was for CCSVI in Meniere's disease. A controlled trial is of course better in terms of evidence than tracking in a registry or single center study. Waiting for the Brave Dreams results! ISNVD is May 4th-6th this year in Italy.

comparing flat earth belief's to CCSVI ? Had to chuckle at that ! Give me another and better comparison.

to the best of my ability to remember each and every bit of CCSVI research results and such ....
I have NEVER read the word " cure " uttered by any professional medical scientific expert.

Here is the great puzzle , that is proving elusive to solve :

There are NO tests to conclusively define a person as having MS.

No blood tests. No Spinal fluid tests. No urine tests. No nothing.

What the above mentioned experts are trying to do is find some unique common trait , that pwMS
have vs so-called healthy people.

Dr.Zamboni seems to have discovered that difference. He called it CCSVI.

He made no great claim. No Eureka moment.

Just a invite to his fellow colleagues ...... to explore his conclusions .... and see if they can also find
something unique to pwMS.

Some have. Some have not. Either way .... Dr.Zamboni has opened up a new angle of thought.

I think that is tremendous. And courageous.

Sort of like sailing out to the edge of the earth , and risking going over .......

I would say that those who denigrate the CCSVI theory belong to the "MS Flat Earth Society". The idea that everyone believed the earth is flat is a 19th century construct. When Columbus sailed west he hope to find Japan. He thought he had found India (West Indies, "Indians") Let's compare Professor Zamboni to Columbus who thought he had found one thing but in fact found something else - equally if not more important.

I believe that in MS there are a synergy of factors at work which require some subtly of mind to explore.

Allow me to propose one schema.

CONCLUSION : A Synergy of factors at work in the MS disease process.

1) CCSVI phenomena number one. Vein stenoses cause blood draining from the brain/spine to “back-jet” into CNS, thus triggering an immune response (lesions) and damage.

2) CCSVI phenomena number two. Inflammation. Poor MS Diet, allergies, EBV virus cause calcium to leave the cells to trigger a) cramps in the skeletal muscles and b) spasms in the smooth muscles of the veins draining the CNS to disrupt blood circulation – CCSVI. Thus, the added factor of these spasms explains why not all vein stenoses will lead to the blood back jets observed in CCSVI.

Early on factors 1 and 2 lead to lesions in the CNS and corresponding demylination and damage to the nervous system.

Gradually, muscle cramps and reduced nerve function disorganize the body structure which damages the spine. Damage to the spine disrupts communication between the (ANS) autonomous nervous system and the brain. (The ANS or involuntary nervous system runs through the spine. It controls internal organs, the heart rate, digestion, bowel and urinary function, respiratory rate, papillary response, sexual arousal etc.)

I call this process the MS Positive Feedback Loop.

So, it’s a confluence of factors, but CCSVI is certainly the major one. This also explains the longstanding understanding that a gluten free, inflammation free diet manages MS. It prevents spasms and cramps in the ANS and skeletal muscles.
